| He turned down the national coach job to stay at Wakey, would be sgurprised to see him go to Catalans. I would love to see him in Perpignan though, as he is exactly what we need. If we get him, GF next year.

| Has just been mentioned on BBC Radio Manchester that he has had discussions with Catalans about a three-year deal, although nothing confirmed.
You couldn't blame him if he went, not least for the fact that Catalans are guaranteed a franchise next time around.

| 3 years would be right. Don't know why but JK has form of coming in to a club, making the right changes to take them forward, and then things stagnating after a couple years. Maybe with us it would be different as he should have money to spend.

| Quote Four trainers are still in string to succeed Kevin Walters on the bench of the Dragons the next season. Turn d' horizon. " One arrives at the end d' a cycle. One seeks a coach which has much d' ambitions, which will bring rigour and which wants to work with jeunes". Here is for the identikit picture, drawn up by Bernard Guasch concerning the successor of Kevin Walters on the bench of the Catalan Dragons the next season. With l' exit of the defeat of its players Tuesday in Castleford (24-20), the president of the frankness roussillonnaise recognized that this file would be buckled d' here ten days. " On the twelve qu' candidatures; one received, aujourd' today there remain four coaches with which we are in négociations" , it indicated without to reveal l' identity of the semi-finalists. D' elsewhere, all n' were not received yet. It s' nevertheless d' would act; a match between English and Australian. Brian McDermott (Harlequins), the Trent Robinson (assistant-coach in NRL) and Paul Cullen (trainer of Widnes) could belong to these shorts-list from which disappeared John Kear, the technician of Wakefield, future adversary of the " Dracs" Saturday in Super League, and Mike Potter, old of the house " blood and or". Always is qu' according to l' lucky one, technical staff could also undergo rehandlings. A leader of play " The club enormously pushed in two years, it is necessary to finish digesting all cela" , Bernard Guasch continues. Indeed, l' another building site which awaits the frankness relates to l' installation of new Brutus, once carcass work finished. The future coach of the Dragons will have nevertheless widened capacities. It will be him which will condition recruitment in its great widths. The tracks on which the club worked have d' elsewhere put in stand-by. And the first mission of the future technician will be to find " a true leader of jeu". " One n' Stacey Jones" did not replace; , the president of the " notes bitterly; blood and or". But its diagnosis s' do not stop there. " There is a voluntary and courageous team. But we miss the mental". An analysis consolidated by this qu' he saw since the platform of the Jungle Tuesday evening. " This Rugby, c' is a sport of patient, this n' is not for everyone. In France, one n' this culture of the evil, courage does not have and volonté" , he addresses by targeting the young generation which pains with " colmater" absences due to the many casualties. S' it is acquired that Casey McGuire and Steven Bell will turn over to Australia, Dane Carlaw and Chris Walker could also pack their bags. The process of naturalization of the first s' proving tiresome while second is suspended with l' opinion of the doctors after his fracture of the thorny apophyses on the level of the cervical ones. " Us respecter" On their side, Jamal Fakir and Dimitri Pelo, with whom it club proposed a 3 year old new agreement, will try l' venture to XV and in Signal 14 by respectively threading the shirts of Castrate and Montpellier. Except that Bernard Guasch requires respect on behalf of the clubs quinzists: " Pelo and Fakir are in contract jusqu' at the end of November with us. Qu' will be needed; they wet the shirt with the Dragons up to that point. The clubs concerned did not forward to us any contract. As long as I would be there, we will not be the turkeys of the joke, it will be necessary for us respecter". Concerning the renewals of contract, seven players are concerned. The situation very quickly will be elutriated for Olivier Elima, David Ferriol and Jerome Guisset. S' it decides to hang up again the cramps, the Catalan, pillar 32 years old, should start its reconversion in technical staff.'"
Kear out of the running according to that...from Lindependant.

| Kear and Potter ruled out, Cullen on the short list. F. F. S.
Also mention that Bell and McGuire are both definitely offski next year, with a probable/possible exit of Walker and Carlaw. Fakir and Pelo off to XV and Elima, Ferriol and Guisset in contract talks - Guisset looking to stay on either as a player or with the backroom staff.
If all those French players go we might as well call it a day.

| What happened with Kear I wonder?
Seemed pretty likely to happen from some of the comments on here and the Wakey forum.

| so maybe my earlier hunch about Richard Agar being on his way to france may not be just pie in the sky after all ?
surely not Paul Cullen ! Brian Mcdermott on the other hand would be good for us imo - I think he would develop the younger players as well as getting a solid first-team squad
in any case, who ever takes the job needs to seriously rebuild...pity about JK

| 1: Why spend money on the likes of (fill in waste of space etranger's name here) and save money on the coach?
2: I hope we make our next appointment a 1 year with an option to extend, so that we can then re-approach Kear if it doesn't work.

| Would it not be the case that the money spent on players will reduce if some of the etrangers go back down under, leacing more to spend on a coach?

| Bell we replace with Vaccari. Sa we replace with JPB or re-sign Duport as a centre/wing. Carlaw we replace with any number of second row forwards, we have them coming out our ... We have a number of UTC players to bring up to the first team (Bartheau, Guash, Gigot) and a number of players to bring in from our feeder (Villegas). If we look at our current side we need to find a SO to replace Sherwin and a Hooker to replace McGuire, so that could be any one of the UTC players mentioned.

| Is this a perfect opportunity to bring more French players into the Catalans first team?
Surely it would be of benefit to both France and Catalans, at least financially.
Speaking of money, has anyone heard anything about Catalans income being a lot less than they had hoped for this year?
Apparently, for this reason, the Dragons are going to switch all their games back to Gilbert Brutus.
