Watched the French rugby union grand final today live on Catalan television and wasn't very impressed. Very scrappy and some basic errors. Clermont were the better side and at times it felt like they were dragging USAP around the field.
I'd also wager that it's a positive for Catalans as another title for USAP could have made further inroads into their support base and media coverage... or not.

Bit of a disappointing crowd figure - 6700; vast majority of whom appeared to be supporting FCL, can't have been more than a couple of hundred from Pia. Maybe playing it opposite the union final wasn't the best scheduling?

Aurélien Cologni is the coach this time around. Wynne stepped down from coaching to concentrate on playing in his last year.

OK - didn't know that. It seems that Wynne is going back to Australia now, in any case, as are Beattie & Quinn.

Seems to be some speculation in the papers here that Lézignan may take some big games to Narbonne next season and that they are still looking to play in England.

I certainly think that should TO reach Super League, there's a vacancy for a French club at Championship level. The Aude region seems the obvious choice and word was regarding a combined club of the three big sides there playing out of the Albert Domec in Carcassonne. I'm not sure that either could stand alone, but on the playing front, FCL's credentials are second to none.

Seen the first half - the pundits are really pro ref, agree with his decisions and when they don't refuse to admit it! Would like to see the same in the UK.
