Did you see Briscoe playing for FC?

He can hold down a place in the side. He was ever present last season until he got injured. He gets moved about a lot because he can cover a range of different positions better than anyone else in the side.

Briscoe used to all the time when he was here, his backing up from Horney's short ball to score under the sticks used to be a trade mark of his at Hull. Haven't seen him in any where near the same form for Rovers as he was when he was on the top of his game at Hull.

The only reason for this is because the quality in the squad has declined over the years!

We have seen the quality of Briscoe but we have not seen him cross the try line as much as he did for FC.

Those tries were made by the pass from a set move. What I meant was that Slater will create something from nothing and finish it himself. Neither Briscoe or Whiting will do that: Briscoe isn't particularly creative and Whiting's usually too slow to finish anything other than the shortest of short range efforts.

No due to the fact, Briscoe was poor...missed tackles, and dropped ball.

It's not. It's because he wasn't injured as much. I don't think there have been too many games during Whiting's FC career where he's been fit but not selected. If he's available to play, he usually does.

I'm not denying that the quality of our backs isn't what it used to be, I'm saying that's not the reason Whiting is selected on a regular basis. After breaking through to the first team he's missed very few games other than through injury.

Whiting made 22 appearances last season, 18 the season before.

So we are going to pay a fee to secure a player for one season! I don`t think so!
If he comes and thats a big if , 3 year deal would be more appropiate after paying a transfer fee.

wouldn't the obvious to that be "yes"

but in the absence of a crystal ball it would not be wise to pay a fee for a player who will be with us for only a year. I'm sure sammut would sign for longer than a year if the clubs can reach an agreement.

I can see what you're saying, but I think we really need a cover half this season and if we have to pay a fee then so be it. But I too would rather have him for 2-3 years.

I don't think Sammut would come to be cover though, or are you saying that Horne would become cover?
