to me,to really compete we need a half back,centre and hooker,we obviously wont be getting all three(i wouldnt have thought)but 2 i would be happy with,if it means a bit of a shuffle about or blooding a youngster so be it....

yeah he also played 7 from what i remember. definately played 7 for england but for wigan it was mainly 6 then 1 later on in the season, like you say

I agree. however it's just the principal of a loose forward who IMO hasn't had a great deal of "quality" game time in the last couple of seasons interchanging at a key position

If your talking about Shaun Briscoe then you are talking absolute s***e!

It baffles me why the club arnt interested in Gareth Moore.

Briscoe puts his neck on the line game after game, he has had a few below standard games last season but overall he is a good solid player

Any top team who actually challanges for honours and wins things has specialist players in key positions, full back been one of them.
Would Saints have played Wellens anywhere but fullback? Leeds, Brent Webb? I think not.

you can hardly compare those players with Briscoe though! Yes he gives his all and yes he is solid in defence, but he offers little to nothing as an extra pivot

Wellens is very rarely used in this 'pivot' position that most FC fans are obsessed with.

Not comparing them ability wise. What i am saying is the top clubs have specialist players for key positions, not this utility tag that Sharp was obbsessed with and which RA has adopted, players who can play various positions, jack of all trades sort of thing,

Would give the team options.. would rather go with BJB than Phelps though.

We have more than 2 but just choose to play them elsewhere and have a prop at 13

Briscoe was rubbish last season, even by his own admission.
