Sammut would be ideal for cover at both half and hooker and would provide much needed spark to our armoury. We tend not to struggle with field position but more breaking down defences from there and Sammut is a very big attacking threat to any team.

Agree about Moore for as backup as well, think he could develop and learn from training and playing alongside Long and Fitz before they retire.

I'd say half back is his forth best position.

I would do the same, halves or hooking with Houghton.

I'd rather give Sammut a go in the Halves than watch another season with Washbrooke there.

Sammut is a good player and his departure would be a big loss for the Crusaders but his brilliant and reckless game changing skills are some what diluted by his habit of forgetting to make a simple tackle on his own try line.


I'd be more upset if Hanbury wanted to leave. Along with Schifcofske he was the difference between winning and losing several key games.

If he came on to gave Houghton a rest, we could, potentially, have 5 sound attacking ball players on the field at the same time, in Tansey, Horney, Long, Sammut and Westerman

I've seen Sammut play fullback in NRL, but not halfback, but after seeing him in the halves over here, it seems blatantly obvious that he's more suited in that position.

It won't. He'll just make sure they're all under strict instructions not to deviate from the five drives and an aimless kick gameplan that has served us so well throughout his tenure.

Couple of things with the potential signing of sammut,whilst he will give us options in the halves he isn't the player we need however if its just for this season then fine,but also bit of a loose cannon and not what we want. One thing I don't get the club knew berro was going to be on his way at the end of the season why didn't we make a move for matt diskin to share the hooking role given kath and gary have a foot in both camps. And finally since the end of last season we have lost cusack 80k,hall 40k,burnett 20k,calders 60k,berro 150k that comes to 350k plus radders and dowes on reducded terms yet only sharp 50k westerman 80k coming in a difference of 220k does anybody get the feeling that the fee paid out for westerman is going to be re-couped by spending way below on the salary cap this season?

I never doubted it, I am expecting our pay on players to continue to drop, especially having seen the various stories about it being harder to recruit Australians because of the changes in taxation laws.
