From memory they did, yes. However, I seem to think even they admitted it was more a case of testing the water, rather than them expecting to get in.

They are correct. The stadium and the team are in their rightful division for now.

If the Salford stadium plan continues to go down (likewise Wakefield or Castleford fail to deliver) then perhaps there is a chance for an improved Halifax or Widnes in 2012.

Yep, you can just see the RFl changing their mind about the Celtic franchise and letting Halifax take their place next year - presumably there will be some sort of bond lodged by these dumb MP's to pay for the legal repercussions against the RFL when the starts flying ?

Perhaps you should never say never with the RFL after what they did to Gateshead after finishing sixth in their debut season in '99 but hopefully those days and actions remain firmly in the past.

I think it's more to do with them not getting a franchise this time around rather than who you've beaten!!

it probably is but i know we are ont going to get in because of the MP'S but if you watched us against fev tonight you can see why we are at the top of the league.

widnes probably shouldnt be in the same league as halifax they were ready for super league when they were looking at franchises. you will be hard pushed to find any fax fans that thought we were ready for super league at the end of last season, although we will be in 3 years we will have a ground that will rival or better 3 or 4 teams in super league but because of expansion i have a feeling we will be overlooked for another french team and widnes even if we win the league for the next 3 years.

A very entertaining game (better than quite a few from SL this season) with at least a couple of players from either side that wouldn't look out of place in your average SL squad.

As we've seen repeatedly over the years though willing nags don't fair that well in the company of thoroughbreds and that extends up to the International level.

I'd love to see 'Fax back in SL but I think some of their numpty supporters will jeopardise their chances if they don't change their ways. Some of the chanting would make Saints fans blush and the bottle throwing when Whitehaven won there a while back was disgraceful. Credit has to go to some of their fans though who recognised the problem and sought to have it eradicated rather than brush it under the carpet. Good Luck to 'em,I say!

From the Featherstone side Ian Hardman still looks SL class to me and Jon Fallon really impresses me each time I see him play at this level. Twenty two year old, prop/second row and if I were running Leeds I'd be making an enquiry or two with Daryl Powell to see if they fancy a challenge in SL.
