I'm on nights again - 6 hour round trip last night to North Wales, Not sure where I am tonight, I'll find out at 7 when I get in my van and check, it's more exciting that way and stops me moping around the house beforehand in a mood at where I'm going.

I once worked a night. It was horrible. It was the night when the clocks go back so when it got to two in the morning it went back to one. I nearly cried.

I used to want to be an Astronaut, not a Cosmonaut, I didn't li8ke their spaceships. When I was about four my granddad told me they wouldn't need Astronauts (he didn't mention Cosmonauts because he knew I didn't wan to be one of them) as everything would be robots by the time I grew up.

So I gave up wanting to be an Astronaut, and he was wrong, they do still need Astronauts. I'd have been an Astronaut if it wasn't for my granddad.

Been to an Argentinian steak place for lunch today, was good, had a burger, steaks a bit heavy for lunch.

Just changed all the lights in the kitchen from 50W GU10's to 4W SMD's which are claimed to be 50W equivalents, they're not. The kitchen lights are split into 2 half's of 8x down-lights, when one half is turned on they notch the energy monitor up by £0.80/hr so the whole kitchen costs £1.60/hr to light up. The new lights cost £0.08/hr to partially light up the kitchen and cast some awful shadows. An error on my part too as I elected for Day white rather than Warm white to try squeezing a bit more light out of them. I'm going to see how they go but haven't ruled out putting the old costly lamps back in. I managed to get them for £4.10 each, An average GU10 50W lasts around 1000 hours and costs anywhere between £1 - £9 and these new fandangled SMD lights will last approx 50,0000 hours, Good investment if I can get used to the light they do/do not create.

If someones going to get some, get the Warm white.

I'm constantly amazed by how many people on here are sea faring types, there's Bobbin' Along, Red Adair (I think), our new friend from Bridlington, Rover49 used to be that's just off the top of my head.

These seafaring types have to have something to think about when they are about their hazardous business on the High Seas, and as Hull, as a City, has a strong seafaring tradition along with Rugby League. So the thought of home, their loved ones and beating Hull FC that keeps them going. Unless they are like Mr W. who has the unfortunate habit of supporting the Black and Whites. He is however spreading the word about RL to his Latvian and Russian shipmates. Even a couple of soft Southerners are made to watch, as Mr W. commandeers the Sky remote most weekends. Tough life this seafaring lark, Sky TV in everyone's cabin.

Love the life, he's home for 4 weeks then away for 4 so it's not like some who have to be away for 3 months at a time. It's what you get used to. Been together 24 years, but only spent 12 of them actually in each others' company.
He goes off and does all macho things with ships and oil rigs, I have my own space etc. here at home.

Only trouble being, time seems to pass so quickly. For the majority of people they do the Monday to Friday thing, looking forward to the weekend, have to cram so much into those two days. We get to have a whole four weeks and can do so much more.

Besides we'd probably not be together if we had to do the 24/7 stuff! Absence makes the heart grow fonder.........so they say.
