Pot and kettle. This is a Hull thing this inability to admit you were wrong. Hull key Kear go when they shouldn’t have because of a dip so did KR with Chester both replaced with no better at the time.
It’s impossible to know if either would have turned it round but it’s equally as impossible to say they wouldn’t especially in Keats case. What is certain is both went on to do far better than those who replaced them long term.
All clubs do it but both sets of Hull fans seem intent on deriding these two in particular rather than admit they may have been hasty.

I admire the way Chester handled his departure, and I’m glad he seems to learned from mistakes made at Rovers and enjoyed relative success at Wakefield. However, the mess he made (along with others) in 2016 was beyond his ability to fix. It just wasn’t realistic to expect him to do a job in the face of the ongoing anger and frustration he’d have faced.
At least Webster was given space by fans because it wasn’t his mess. Not that it helped, ultimately. Sheens got us promoted again, and our travails now seem more a natural consequence of our situation than the clusterboobery of 2016.

I think you will find Wakefield are now a very well run club under Michael Carter, he is no sugar daddy but runs a tight ship living in its means. Its a good business model and slowly the club is building. Just the facity farce with the LA and proposed developers holding the club from moving to the next level!

| I can't argue with the general theme of this thread but as fans we overreact to big defeats and also wins. Salford away and yesterday it was the manner of it rather than the score for me.But Salford Hudds Cats Widnes have also took a fair few batterings even Cas and Wakey have had blips. Im sick of hearing of injuries but they can't be ignored plus the 2 Leeds games Cats away and derby were very winnable if we had the brains .We also seem to be a bit unfortunate in that we play teams either in form or getting star players back? Lots of it's and buts but we need results on pitch to get everyone on same page .Even at full strength top 8 would be decent top 6 was always unattainable? We need to win our home games firstly. It covers a lot of cracks like yeamsterdays games. Salford and Wid have turned over big teams at home.that is the difference,we havent

Funny thing is despite the strange team selections we probably shaded the first half (Lee doesn't fall of the tackle for there 3rd try we could have at least been level at ht ). But the way we started the 2nd left us way to much to do, and we just didn't look bothered. Wakefield didn't have to do a lot for there tries or defence, but most were long range and could have been stopped. And the only time we spread the ball Moss scores a well finished try (he really should have started).
But they showed us what we need to do to improve, a couple of big forwards and pace, which we have neither which is why we're struggling.
This season was always about just trying to stay in this division. And then improving year on year. We are starting to do that by signing up our better young players. If we can stay up maybe we can attract the better players. And that needs to be players with pace and size. But we do need a big overhaul in my opinion, otherwise even if we stay up we'll be back in the same position next year.

Thought you looked a pretty decent outfit in parts. Agree with that end statement though. You need a David Fifita type prop and a prop that like England who will run it in all day and make some good yard gains without the flash. Add a winger like Johnstone or BJB and you wouldn’t be far off (we have MCB who is a quality winger who would be awesome signing for you guys who can’t get a game atm). We’d be mad to let MCB go to a rival league team but you get the idea.
i wouldn’t get too disheartened. You run Leeds close afterall and will pick up some more points down the road. As for gutless I just think they run out of steam and losing the possession battle and the collision in that 40-60 minute spell just took too much out of them.
Best of look for the rest of season.

| The only aim this season is not to get relegated which I'm sure you won't, either through not losing the MPG or through them expanding SL. You have a poor squad scattered with a few half decent players but there is no real quality there to get you over the lines in tight games.
I'm sure crossland and hudgel are confident you won't go down hence they're not panicking and paying over the odds for the wrong type of player.
I don't think we're too far off another franchise type model for SL and I would think hudgel is confident you'll be in there so thinking longer term than your average fan is prepared to.

Always do mate. No matter which division or how they play. I get frustrated with how they play, and with team selections. But will always back them.
Hudgell and Crossland will always get my support for where they taken the club onto from the shambles that was the mid 90's early 00's. I think the frustration is more to do with the lack of investment in the sports teams in Hull than anything they've done.
Agree that this season was all about staying up anyway we can. Then we can improve the side year on year by getting in better players. Personally would like us to be looking at the championship or fringe players of SL clubs like Caton Brown,Klienhorst Pattern. Young hungry players with something to prove.
Hopefully we won't go down the franchise route again, as I don't think it adds anything to the game or improves the standards. But fear you could be right.

Theres the problem, we can put the effort in to run leeds so close and follow it up with such an abject effortless 2nd half the week after. Until we can become competetive on a weekly basis we'll always be middle 8 material.

I’ve not watched this one, but the effort has been good most of the season. We’re just short of quality and we lose the collision way too much, despite that effort.
So there’s no anger and not much surprise on my part. The team have my full, if remote, support. But while negativity can be self-fulfilling, baseless optimism is dangerous too. One of the most worrying moments in 2016 was being told we shouldn’t worry. At least this time there’s seemingly no confusion about the scale of the task before them.

I think we’ve got young and hungry pretty well covered. We need a few more quality players closer to their prime, imo. Long-term plans quickly run out of steam without some initial impetus. I can’t imagine us having a recruitment round like we did more than a decade ago, ahead of 2008, nowadays - the market is way too flat. But that sent out a real signal of intent that we were going to consolidate and become competitive in SL.
I agree about franchising. It’s a fine line between offering security and allowing stagnation. Also would anybody trust the security offered after the debacle last time?
That said, the Championship is not a well balanced competition, and I think there will be changes (again) within a year or two.

When i say young i mean early to mid 20's (which is sadly alot younger than me). And You could argue that they have been our better more consistent performers this year. I'm not against some older players with experience, just personally feel we should be looking at younger players not getting game time, who we can then build a team around that could hopefully last.
Though I agree the market the last few years has been flat.
The championship is always going to be an unbalanced division while you got both FT and PT time teams in the same division. Whilst Featherstone have been a great example to PT teams, you're only going to get a few that could match that. So FT teams hold all the aces. Throw in the travel with regards Toulouse and the cap dispensation for Toronto. The £500,000 extra Leigh got. Then your only going to get one outcome.
And to be honest league 1 is far worse with regards being unbalanced.

We need 2 competitive leagues of 12 where being relegated isn't the disaster it is now but we don't have the cash or the player pool
