I agree - I understand whether you like the song or not is not really the point - the point being anything to be xmas no1 instead of the X Factor winner - but why did they have to choose rage against the machine to be the song everyone should buy? Even though its only 24p or whatever, I just could never bring myself to pay for e like that.

Because it's such a weird song, good, but weird. That's why they chose it.

It could have been any song really but someone took the initiative and others followed. I must admit to not really understanding the lyrics (if you read them they don't really mean anything) but I guess the jist of the message is one of anti-establishment.

Either way though this is a positive move designed to upset the mediocrity of the Cowell Karaoke machine and his dominance of the Xmas number 1, regardless of whether u like the track or not, it's a worthy cause imo.

I'd much rather have preferred to see Aphex Twin's 'Come to Daddy' track at number 1, as there was a similar campaign started on Facebook. However, anything has got to be better than another schmaltzy cheese ridden song from the Cowell factory.

The charts have always been full of sh/te. Nothing changes. All Simon Cowell is doing, is showing it up for what it is and making a bloody fortune out of it. I don’t watch the X Factor, as it just churns out wannabe clones of current pop stars, and panders to the teenage girl obsession with celebrity.

The charts will still churn out sh/te whether or not SC’s latest Prodigy is singing it. It doesn’t mean I have to listen to it. I’ll listen to what I regard as proper music which rarely, if ever, makes the charts.

I’ll buy the music I like, not out of protest against music I don’t like, but only because I like it.
