Is it me? Is the player the Leythers are saying is the one to lead them forward the same Jamie Durbin who looked slow, indecisive and at times clueless for Widnes? I know Coyle got some stick that season but I always thought he looked better than Durbin.

If the lad has served his time out by improving then good luck to him, but I think Leigh will have a long, hard season.

A case of Leigh having a bang average squad with very poor half backs, Watson is what 32 now and they signed an amateur to play six. They have a sprinkling of good young talent that will see them make the six. More worrying for them is the crowds which are hovering around 1700. A shame as they are a good club with very good fans.

I remember at the time the Warrington fans saying that he really wasn't good enough but maybe he might have found his level in this league.. I'd have to say that at the time I remember thinking he wasn't particularly good even at this level.

I wouldn't worry about the Leigh fans opinions too much.. they rate Lee Marsh and Andy Hobson and they are convinced Smithy is a dirty player.. !!

You can be sectioned under the mental health act for less bizarre thoughts...

For what it's worth, Hobson has been a revelation since his brain fart at Fev in the cup.

As for Durbin, he's looked very lively when given the chance and offers summat different to Jock at hooker, but for some reason he was sat on the bench for the first hour yesterday. Certainly looks a different player to the one I saw play sporadically for your lot, I must admit.

One Leyther was complaining how lazy Hobson was. Nice to know the lad hasn't changed all these years

Durbs had a lot of potential, didn't fulfill it at W**e when he got into their first team for spell. Hope he makes a good signing for Leythers, lively little player who works very hard when I have seen him play.

Had a good season at Simms, should imagine he's slotted in ok

Durbin's speed at dummy half, and our almost total reliance upon Ian Watson in an attacking line, means that he is most likely to be used as a rotation hooker with McConnell. Just hope somebody tells Neil Kelly that rotation means actually bringing him on with more than 20 minutes to go

playing against the likes of bank quay, pilks and blackbrook............the coop league is a little more skilfull than the north west counties.

The plan is to wait until the opposition have run themsleves ragged and are totally knackered (and 30 points ahead!) and then bring him on, to run at them. (without support, as all his team mates are also knackered!) It would have worked last week, if the game had gone on another half hour!

Durbin has injected a lot of pace round the PTB, but then again we've not had that really since your favorite Rowley packed up. On his 3rd or 4th chance,

he's really impressed.

Hobson has been a total revelation since his head went west at Fev. Different player totally, hopefully he'll continue the form because hand on heart I've not seen a much better prop in this league for a while.

Good luck to him. He's been an idiot and gambled on his future with his stupid mistake but is obviously grasping his second chance with both hands..


I'll believe it when I see it re Hobson.. IMO he's nothing but a thug and a cheap shot penalty machine and I said this at the time that he was playing for us.. I cheered the day he went.
As for a better prop.. Wilkes was outstanding for us in 2007 and deservedly obtained a ton of plaudits.
