| This could be an interesting development.
A single Global RL organisation. This would open up better sponsorship opportunities, as sponsors/Broadcasters would get direct access to two markets.
Put Toulouse into the Super League too and in an instant we’ll go from a sport stuck on the M62 to one looking at linking England/France/Australia/New Zealand.
Can’t be much worse than relying on Bachelors Mushy Peas, Foxy Bingo and a free livery on an Eddie Stobart lorry for boosting our commercial revenue streams.

Agree 100%, get Toronto, Ottowa, Miami wherever, move Red Hall out of Hetheringtons back garden, show some genuine ambition instead of blazers and pit villages.

| Well I think that as. game in a parlous state with a reduced Sky deal on the way we have to look at every opportunity. Word in Australia is that they want a bigger League modelled on on the NRL and the same rules in each hemisphere more coverage of Super league in Australia and more of the NRL here. It could be a massive opportunity and certainly worth exploring. I doubt it will suit Mr H and the RFL though.

| I like the idea of alignment, same league structure, rules etc.
That could see us move to a 16 team league competition.
Could be scope to link each club up with a NRL team, to grow sponsorship, player exchanges, coaching experience etc.
Could align the season dates to hold the World Club Championship a couple of weeks after the Grand Final and have a true World Champion.
Would make the game more exciting.

Affiliation with the NRL, sounds good to me, probably open up more lucrative sponsorship deals, whilst giving rugby league a bit more clout, especially dealing with interested parties like terrestrial tv companies.
We are the lame dog of sport compared to Union. ran by a few individuals, Super league and RFL who between them plough a separate path seemingly on a divided road,
If ever a sport needed remodelling it’s ours, of course there will be even more cherry picking of our best players, but that’s a two way street I suppose.
As Wilf says, after Sky reduced offer, it would be madness not to explore all opportunities.

I don’t think it’s something the RFL or SL can afford not to give serious thought too. It would certainly elevate the profile of the sport here. Added to that if done the right way it could open more revenue streams for clubs from sponsorship in terms of national & international brands rather than just local sources of revenue.
The league has needed expanding for a while as there just isn’t enough teams to generate greater competition and in turn more interest in the sport both in terms of fans & media.
The problem is the current set up and inability to increase the money coming in or to sell the game to the likes of Sky, BT or terrestrial tv means expansion will never happen as the pot for each club just gets smaller.
It’s a huge opportunity and one to not make a total balls of.

Terrestrial TV is a must if this sport is to grow in the UK
A live game on a Sunday evening at 18.00 when there is nothing on TV would be an ideal time

Which FTA channel would show live sport every Sunday at peak time?

Possibly ch4 , ch5 or ITV4 as all 3 show various sport regularly. Ch5 are certainly building up a portfolio of sports they show in their channel.
Do sometimes think as a sport we tend to be too short sighted and under sell the sport. As good as sky have been I wonder if as a sport we’ve become too reliant on them?

It’s not on between March and mid-September.
That’s 90% of our season ok.
Then we’ll send Super Kev Sinfield to do Strictly, to go back to back with the action for the remaining 10% of the season. Good guy, he’ll raise the game’s profile even further!

Was just wondering what your thoughts were on the “spiral bomb” versus the traditional end over end kicking technique? For me, the spiral bomb is an under-utilised tactic as invariably the ball has a less predictable trajectory and flight path.

My speciality was the torpedo.
Not 44° or 46° degrees, but the ball held downwards and at an angle of precisely 45° from the kicking foot.
It worked everytime.

| NRL now introducing a 2 point Field Goal for all kicks from 40m+, for the 2021 season.
With Sneyd in our side, let’s merge with the NRL now. Happy days!
