good to see pearson backing up comments from brown and hudgell regarding the refereeing standards!
apart from the hdm getting the ref wrong, thaler was pathetic, again costing the two hull clubs a chance of victory in two weeks
now before the radford bashers come on, (im no radford fan either), no matter how poor we played, decisions we made on friday night, two or three tries warrington scored shouldnt have been awarded, (need to check harrisons try on tv to see if it was from a forward pass)

| Putting the inadequacies of the HDM to one side for a moment. I can't disagree enough that it's good to see Pearson commenting on this. Tbh I'm sick of hearing about referees. Players make mistakes, coaches make mistakes, so guess what, referees are going to make mistakes aswell. Bitching and moaning about the refereeing standards every time we lose is just looking for an excuse. If he put as much effort into improving us as he does complaining about the RFL we would be world club champions. By all means try to work with the RFL to improve standards, but stop crying to the press about it every 5 minutes. And that goes for numerous figures in the game, not just Pearson.

I agree, and even with a ref giving Hull the rub of the green we'd still bomb chances given the dumb rugby we are playing, we can't blame this shocking season on anyone but ourselves.

| Sorry but when someone employs an amateur coach to do a professionals job then you cant have a go at the rfl for employing amateur referees to do a professional job

| Referees make mistakes that's just the way it is and I can live with that. What I can't live with is the ridiculous inconsistencies by the same referee time after time and it does sometimes lead to questions about integrity or at least unconscious bias. The thing that really grinds my gears though is those clowns on the disciplinary panel. They are either grossly incompetent or bent but either way its just not good enough.

I watch plenty of rugby league and I just don't see these inconsistencies that people keep banging in about. Referees are going to see some infringements and not see others, that's just how it is. I don't think people appreciate what a difficult job it is and whilst we should always strive for better, people just have to accept that unless we start reviewing every play (and no one wants that) then there are going to be numerous errors every game.
Inconsistencies with the disciplinary panel are more concerning. These guys get the opportunity to review incidents until the cows come home so when you get two almost identical incidents receiving different punishments then you have to question that. I also feel some infringements are over punished (fighting for example) whilst others are grossly under punished (cannonball tackles, chicken wings etc) buts that an issue with the grading rather than the panel themselves.

I agree.
The one thing that annoys me about refereeing though is that they will go to the screen and ask for 'everything to be checked' - it should just be the one area there may be some doubt over, bot checking each facet of the play to look for a way to disallow the try

For us against Hudds a try was scrubbed for obstruction and the ref didn't even ask them to look at it. The VR's just took it upon themselves to check it anyway.
We got the usual 'We've made a mistake there' BS.

| Thaler's just cleared Monaghan as onside for the wire kick and also the pass from acting half wasn't forward apparently. All of the evidence points to exactly the opposite having happened but it's OK - it's a tough job.

So now we have three choices...
a) Is Thaler a liar?
b) Is he unaware of the offside and forward pass rules?
c) Has he not seen the video yet and is hoping it doesn't reveal his towering incompetence/bias?
Beause anyone who HAS seen the video can clearly see that he's wrong.

| Again I have no problem with Thaler missing the offside because it's pretty tight. However he clearly is off even if it's just a foot or so. Thaler just needs to put his hands up and say I got it wrong.

His answer(s):
"Monaghan is very close to being offside. If you pause it when the ball is on the player's foot he is in line. His leading leg is in front but is not grounded, this is a very tight call."
"TJ is in line and in a split second calls him OK - very tight even on freeze frame."
And if you thought there might have been a forward pass from acting half (mainly because the ball was thrown forward towards the opposition try line) this is what Thaler thinks ...
"No tries on Friday evening came from a forward pass - for either side."
So we can discount your third possibility. Leaving just two to choose from ...

A multiple choice question with 2 correct answers , A and C , not fair.
