Home kit makes more sense, as the Hull Magic Shirt and Wigan shirts are identical except for the colour, which could make it more difficult to see for the TV if it is bright sunshine or dark shadows on the pitch.

they sold out of the Magic shirts as they were 'made to order' but still have Home shirts left to sell...so this will have been a commercial decision.

According to the RFL

B4:38 The provisions set out in Operational Rules regarding clash of colours shall apply equally to Cup Ties. The Club drawn first in the ballot shall be considered the “home” team for the purposes of playing kit save for the final for which the RFL shall issue a kit directive. Kit directives will be issued from Round 4 onwards. Prior to Round 4 Clubs are responsible for liaising prior to a match to ensure that there is no clash.

We've played in black with a white chevron on and off since at least the late 1950s so it's hardly an all out break with tradition.

It would be nice to play in irregular hoops every year but that would adversely affect replica shirt sales.

I understand the commercial side of shirt sales in this day and age but I kind of agree with meatpaste. I wish we had the iconic irregular hoops on in the final.

Saying that if we do manage to win though I daresay I wouldn't care if we played in mankinis.

Black and white v Cherry and white is good enough for me. Not really surprised they haven't gone for a special shirt for the day like they did in 2005, they have after all brought out a magic shirt, a Catalan shirt and military shirt this season. We aren't made of money!!

Good choice for home shirt will sell more shirts to supporters wives partners and friends and kids too all extra pounds for the club

The Wigan home shirt and Magic shirt are deemed to cash due the amount of white both have. So its a simple decision really both clubs wear the primary home shirt.
