I think the main reason he's been put into the middle will be because of his one on one defense. Out on the fringes in the right 2nd rower's channel, he missed a few (but he also looked devastating there in attack).

Putting Tickle back at right 2nd row will bolster that side of the line in defense, and in attack we need to utilise the good lines he runs more effectively than we used to (Westy in the middle should help this).

Overall, I think it's a smart move and one in which alot of the Hull fans who grew up watching Knocker/Jason Smith will be happy with - a ball playing loose forward.

Having a ball handling L/F will stop the need to have a so called 'pivot' F/B you FC fans have loved over recent years. Having a 'pivot' F/B never really did work out for you guys.

As for Westerman, think it will be a good move for him. Can certainly be a leader on the pitch for years to come

Good news, I too recall the days of Knocker and Crane and the brand of rugby we were capable of playing back then. Okay we have a different type of player now and SL is a different game in many ways to the 80's but I'll settle for a more expansive attack without a detriment to the defence which to be fair hasn't been too bad.

Be interesting to see how a shift from a 'solid' fullback and ball playing LF to a flair FB and 3rd prop workhorse at 13 works should Lovegrove line up there.

As for Westerman playing in the middle my only question is his durabilty to make 25+ tackles a game, which will be expected of him playing in the middle and how much it will take out of him in attack. It is clear he needs to get the ball in his hands more though.
