20 each!! They got Gleason's uncle (a landlord) to keep count.
I mean, imagine the scene the following day...

| Quote ="carl_spackler"Sorry, but that’s a special kind of rhubarb you’ve just come out with there. If players just naturally develop as they get older without input from senior players, we’d have a much better team than we currently do. In recent years, Houghton is an exception as a player whose stepped up to SL well, we have far more who have struggled or fallen by the wayside altogether.
There’s a direct link between young players’ development and the senior players available to them to learn from. Look at the last time we brought players through to the right standard, it was Horne and Cooke. Why? Jason and Tony Smith. Likewise for Yeaman with Toa Kohe-Love and Richie Barnett. A few more examples in recent years and who they had teaching them:
Sam Tomkins – Trent Barrett
Kyle Eastmond/Matt Smith – Sean Long
James Graham – Paul Anderson/Jason Cayless/Maurie Fa’asavalu
James Roby/Scott Moore – Keiron Cunningham
Ryan Hall – Scott Donald
Shaun Briscoe – Kris Radlinski
Danny Houghton – Richard Swain/Shaun Berrigan
You can even look at Gareth Widdop learning under Billy Slater, and how about Jordan Tansey? Wasn’t until he went to Sydney Roosters that he finally started to come good on his potential IMO, and he did it at fullback. Who do they have on the books? Anthony Minichiello.
That’s why top sides have a better strike rate of turning promising youngsters into genuine first-teamers, because they have the better players passing on their knowledge.
See the pattern?'"
Whatever. I don't think Berrigan is a good hooker full stop. I think Danny Houghton has the makings of an excellent one. What you have put as regards the other players is maybe fair enough, apart from tansey who is not and will never be a top fullback.

He did
Bearing in mind our forward/back imbalance in terms of strength it seems crazy not to use a world class and SOO centre at, err centre.
Giving more options (eg Turner to the wing) for our shaky back line.
ChrisH summed it up for me as I'm also getting increasingly frustrated at the waste of Whiting:
Quote ="ChrisH"We have to get some value out of Berrigan , we've had precious little so far. To me it's clear that he was a decent centre and has the brains and experience to help organise wider out, something we lack at the moment. Houghton has done well recently , especially with the extra game time and coaching from Webster. We have only one player in our backline playing in his proper position , Yeaman. The rest are makeshift. Berrigan in the centre allows Turner to go to wing and Whiting (who is never a winger and who's performances have been getting steadily poorer) to , at last , get nearer the action. I'd have Whiting at loose but at the moment I'd give him a go at Stand Off. Things happen when Whiting has the ball. It would surely be better even if 13 or 6 was deemed not to be an option for Whiting to be on the bench , offering true utility? If Berrigan performed at centre and got involved he could help give Long a bit more space by providing another option wider out. Currently shut Longy down and apart from "the Tansey link up" on the left, that's it. '"

Get your facts straight. We signed him as a hooker, but he has never played as a hooker on a regular basis. Berro was used most as an impact utility player.

ooof, handbags out girls!!
I we saw while Berrigan was injured we didn't really miss him, Houghton and McShane sharing the hooker role worked very well. Houghton has came leaps and bounds lately he could easily be first choice if we have/acquire a back up hooker.
If, as alleged, Berrigan is on that sort of money maybe cutting our ties would be worth while.

Get your facts straight. Yes he has. He played there for the back end of the 2006 season (in the Broncos GF winning run) with Michael Ennis injured and Casey McGuire dropping to the bench, and the full 2007 season.

Look mate, I don't want to argue. I did use the word regularly, I am not arguing that he has played hooker. I just think he has not cut it there for us, and has looked slow. I would use him elsewhere now, as I think we look sharper with danny as at 9

I don't disagree with that and would prefer to see Berrigan play elsewhere. He's quality but we've seen previous little of it, for mine at least.

Berro WAS once a world class hooker, a world class centre and a world class half back. Not anymore. (not since he signed for us imo)

You say he has looked slow yet people want to move him to centre, brilliant!
Look Danny has had a really good 6 weeks, but all of a sudden people think he is the next best thing. He has been quiet since his motm two weeks ago and another few quiet weeks will see him as a target again. Houghton is progressing nicely but if anyone thinks he is the finsihed article then they are deluding themselves and if they think he can play the full 80 each week then they are very much mistaken. We need two hookers and Berro and Houghton are the best two we have. Lets just let them get on with it, personally Berro should be starting and Houghton should be off the bench, that works best imo.

| Personally, I would prefer Berrigan to leave us for next season. Not because "he's rubbish" or "crocked" or anything like that. For me, apart from the odd glimpse of quality over the last three seasons, he has fallen way short of "marquee quality" and we could spend his salary and quota spot in a much better way.
O'Meley and Fitz have shown us exactly what marquee signings give you and both have had an immediate and massive effect on our club. Berrigan, for whatever reason, has not and we could spend half of his salary on a decent British hooker who would give us just as much, if not more, and still have a spare quota spot.

| Quote ="Big Dave T"I'd be unfair to judge him as a backrower without him playing there imo. He gets his hands free a lot when thats the brief. I remember one of his first games for FC giving a little pass out of the side of his hand to set a try up. He did it at Leeds too this year. I get the impression that it's a part of his game that he has had coached out of him to secure the ball if i'm honest though. I dont see why he hasnt got the upper arm strength to become a great offloading back rower.'"
He did play there for a while though. IIRC, around 2003/2004, he played a large part of the pre-season there. Obviously it may be different if we tried it again, but IMO he looked out of place and I don't currently see a backrower I'd like to see him replace.
