We've lost our attacking flair but Cooke has shown at Rovers that he wouldnt have been the answering to keep if he played for us like he has played for them.

Maybe but how much worse could we have been if he'd stayed and his alleged antics had continued?

| Once upon a time there was a likable chap called Happy Sam who travelled from his home land to try and make a name for himself playing Rugby.
He tried really hard and wanted to play longer for his chosen team. They said that they wanted him and made him a good offer within their wage structure but his big bad agent manged to get more money from another team far far away, in another country. Poor old Sam was in a quandry does he take more money or does he stay were he is happy with his pals. Sam decides to stay (orrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!)
Big bad agent though wants to get as much as is possible for his player (Laugh here!) and is mad that happy Sam is about to stay where he is with his pals. So he comes upon a cunning plan and drops a few hints to a well known local media outlet that are renowned for getting things a bit wrong in the interests of a good story! He tells them that Sam is to sign for his current team biggest rivals and they had better stump up or he will.
Happy Sams club though thinking about the rest of Sams pals won't budge and then the local character who has lived under a mountain for years and years catching fish with his teeth, and who is obsessed with has precious (and we all know who they are) and knows everything about Happy Sams clubs biggest rivals says, he was never going there and never will...............
And you can here the next episode of Jackanory tomorrow at 4-45!
Pure speculation and conjecture of course but it makes a good story which could have RING of truth about it!!!!!

| Hope he stays with us, desperatly short of specialist props nevermind good ones. If Lauaki is in second row then we lack any impact at all with the the front row. Cusack resigning was an awful mistake. Offers nothing different to Dowes in my opinion. Cordoba showed a lot more in the games he has played than Cusack did this season.

Cusack is a far better prop than either Dowes or Cordoba imo. He;s proven that over a very succesful NRL career.
For me the biggest mistake we keep making is keeping Dowes. He;s been out of form for a couple of season. He noticed that himself during the last offseason and went to do some specialist training which the club cut short.
Cusacks size alone means he makes more yards etc.

Agreed. Cordoba showed good effort and is decent but was also error prone. Cusack is a very good prop with plenty of leadership experience and highly professional on and off the field. Like you I think the days of Dowes being the 'first name on the team sheet' are long gone and I see him as similar to Richard Horne in that he needs to up his performance level next year.

I'd say that Cusack would of been a better prop in his prime but is now on par with Dowes and behind Cordoba. Don't how you can offer someone of his age a contract when he was currently and still is out injured. No one know's if his wrist will stand the pressure. Very bad resigning in my opinion.

Cusack is better than Dowes and makes fewer mistakes than Cordoba.

I think you are right in that Cordoba showed effort and aggression in a very poor Hull season. That is maybe why he is thought of so well. If I were critical I would have to say he made far too many handling errors to be kept on as a non fed trained player.

I don't think either of Cusack or Cordoba warrant a quota spot but if I had to chose I'd go for Cordoba.

| IMO it was a bad decision to renew Cusack's contract and if it costs us big Sam for the seasons to come, then it will prove to be a terrible decision. However, I do rate him as a decent prop if not anything spectacular.
I think that he is a better prop than both Dowes and Cordoba but he just isn't worth a quota spot when we could have made an effort to sign a half decent British prop to do the same job, probably on similar money.
Dowes, for me, must be playing his last season in the B&W unless he somehow has a blinder of a season which is very unlikely.

| Cusack is twice the player Cordoba is. I would say that Dowes is aswell when he is on his game but the coaching staff need to spend this off-season finding out what they need to do to get him back to his best.
I still maintain that back in 2005/2006 when Thackery, King and Carvell were regularly picked in Britain squads, Dowes was still your best prop. I wonder wether that had a mental affect on him because he hasnt been the same since.

TBF to Hull werent we one of the clubs who enquired about Andy Lynch at Bradford who was out of contract? I dont think there is many quality British props available at the mo.
