| The tone of this article on the club's website seems to back up what the wail are saying IMO. Dark days ahead I fear

Who is this guy? Coaches in Australia are pretty much priced out of the market even if they wanted to come, and the top five clubs here are unlikely to part with theirs. That leaves the dreaded "assistant" route.
If it's Lee Radford, then that's fine by me. And if Paul Cooke is part of the equation then that's ok as well.
Interesting times ahead.

We've just had a bumper pay day at Wembley and since that day Pearson has underlined his commitment to financially back the club until it's successful.
If you think that one result is going to change that, then I'd suggest you're the one that's naive.

| Well I hope the lazy @rsed, egotistical wannabe local celebrity players who clearly didnt want to play for Gentle want to play for Radford or the whole thing could be going down the toilet.
They appear to have got what they wanted. Time for them and their new boss who apparently stabbed his predecessor in the back to deliver.
I'll support them as ever, but they shouldn't expect me to be patient.

| I'd give Andy last the head coaches job. He's very passionate about the club, worked wonders with the young kids and is very highly regarded as a coach. I'd be more than happy for radford to remain assistant coach but head coach? I'm not so sure, and sadly if Pearson makes this appointment then in the short term at least, he's going to lose a lot of money. There was already a danger of losing pass holders with our poor recruitment and poor performances throughout the year, (CC run excluded) this will be the nail in the coffin for many fans I fear.

| I'm prepared to give Radford a chance. What is the alternative? Another assistant coach or junior coach from Australia? People talking about the likes of Hasler, Kearney etc need to get real.
Cooke's role presumably could be similar to that of Stanley Gene at Gateshead/Rovers. I've no problem with Cooke being involved at Hull. Very knowledgeable bloke and would be great with the young half backs coming through.

| Whist not convinced about radford as coach, some of the comments on here are way over the top. Wane and Anderson have done very well with little experience.
I prepared to give radford a chance and support, i do hope its only a one year deal though.

| With relegation on the cards i just cant see the sense in taking a chance with an unproven head coach. Its a massive gamble. Also judging by the majority of posters it doesnt look like an appointment that will go down well with the fans.
If a top NRL coach is not going to be on the agenda for whatever reasons then there are a few great coaches in the Championship worthy of consideration.
John Kear,Karl Harrison and Mark Aston.Loads of experience and would have the respect of the players from day one.

Thing is, Pearson ought to have sufficient faith and conviction in the new man to give him a long deal. We simply cannot keep starting over with a new man every year or two. Reconstruction of the team every time to give the coach his 'own players' before we can start the build for success means we'll never get there. Consistency is paramount. Perhaps this is why he's chosen Radders as he's been there during the building of the current side.
I just hope that the 'full review of first team matters' includes more than the sacrifice of Gentle as I really don't believe the coach was the whole problem. Radford needs to take a hard look at his players, friends or otherwise, and make some hard decisions to ensure that what happened to Gentle doesn't happen to him, once the love-in is over.

The big difference between those two you name is both were assistants at clubs that were already playing well and consistently under the head coaches with settled and quality sides.
We on the other hand are so up and down performance wise and have a squad that is not as good as the teams coached by Wane & Anderson.
Would Anderson or Wane have seemingly been so good at Hull? I very much doubt it.

Is that the season where Nathan Brown left by mutual consent due to him taking the jobs at Saints during the season and they Giants form then going pear shaped?

That'll be the one. It's also interesting to note that Huddersfield didn't panic and sack their coach after getting dumped out of the play-offs, by a thrashing from ourselves

To be fair, Anderson was still in the early months of his tenure and perhaps not expected to do a great deal in 2012. And although I agree that the 46-12 score line in last season play offs is a bit of a hammering, it sort of pails into insignificance to 76-something.

IMO to some extent the Huddersfield result is an irrelevance, albeit a humiliating one. The big question is whether, on all the evidence available so far, Gentle is the man to deliver AP's ambition.
