Signings of O'Meley, Fitzgibbon, Long, Tansey???

Tansey is a good signing, I'll wait and see about the rest as I am unconvinced, Long certainly is a cracking player but IO am not certain about his desire and comittment, as I have said often, my biggest concern for next year is the coach, but we are going to have to wait and see,

Yet you compared leeds squad to what we will have, not the coaches. If you had said:

Super League 2010:

Agar
Mclennan
Mcdermott
Potter
Morgan
Brown

etc, then i dont think you would have too many arguing. As it is, i think we could have a very good sqaud next year, the recruitment isnt over. With a good mix of youthful enthusiasm and raw talent, and some experience

Exactly im not impressed by Agar but the Club is'nt going to change their mind on him till next season, so slagging the Club off on every post isnt going to do any good what so ever.

Don't know why people are worrying about 2010. Think about the ages of some of our highly payed contracted players for 2011... Then you'll really be worried!

That is a very good point. After 2 poor years Hull have obviously gone for a quick fix but given little thought to subsequent years in my opinion.

We don't have a long term strategy, we simply stumble from one crisis to the next, and we have done for a long time. That is what is so frustrating, you cen see other clubs developing gradually, we wre given the KC on a plate, enjoyed the associated boom and did nothing to capitalise and move on.

Can you imagine where Saints would be if they had a 24,000 capacity stadium to generate income.

Considering that they can't fill their current one, roughly in the same place. Not that there's much room for improvement when you've had the success that they have anyway.

We have a bunch of players OOC in 2010, including most of those who some people feel are getting too old. In fact only Long and O'Meley are here beyond that date out of our older players. We hardly have our hands tied for longer-term appointments, and by then the question over Agar's tenure will have been well and truly answered.

Fair points but going to be another big player turnaround at the end of 2010 if the likes of Raynor, King, Radford, Fitzgibbon, Cussack and Berrigan are all shown the door at the same time.

And possibly the coach as well.

I'm not saying it's an ideal situation to be in, but the fact is that we had little choice given where our crap recruitment and retention over the last few seasons has put us.

The plus side is that if Agar bombs next season and gets the bullet, any incoming coach is going to have plenty of flexibility in terms of squad building.

totally agree. at least if agar goes early in the season in 2010 then the successor can't really complain. the 30+ yr olds we have signed who are nearing retirement will be on big money so whoever does take over agar will have our current youth + loads of spare cash

Wouldnt say a quick fix is what weve done mate. We've brought some experienced players in to balance the squad for the next few years after probably having a squad that was a bit too young and inexperienced in key positions in previous years.

Really? In what areas do you think you have lacked experience?

We've had no scrum half. We've lacked big name big reputation forwards. We've lacked leaders on the pitch which comes with bringing in experienced internationals.

We've also underperformed in a variety of other positions too.

Its funny cos people praise us for having loads of Hull born players in our 17 but to a large extend that has hindered us too. We'll have the balance next year.
