Was Rule taking that viewpoint on behalf of his old employers though?. Maybe the agenda will change now AP is here, & Rule will have to (or be able to) implement a change in direction. We always knew that if Agar left, he would just be replaced by another cheap, easy, option under the old BOD.
Now AP is here, I'm hopeful we'll aim higher coaching wise.

I always thought the change would come at the end of the season to be honest. AP would need a bit of time to assess things & look at all aspects of the club.
He wants to become the biggest Super League franchise. He wants regular finals. He wants crowds to increase. He won't settle for just competing but getting beat.
That's why I think he'll end up doing the right thing.

We're now so close to the end of the season that I don't expect any action to be taken until after the playoffs at the earliest.

I've had that thought too, and am still open to it. If it was the strong belief of the board he was hardly going to go against it publicly, regardless of what he privately thought.

Except he has specifically said to a poster on here that the players are the differentiator, not the coach.

The more I think about it, the less confident I am that we'll have a new coach at the helm at the start of next season. I have no doubt pearson will get rid at some point but have this nagging doubt he'll give agar another chance.

Same here. I do not share the optimism of some posters that Agar will be fired before next season.

But again, I don't see him going round saying the direct opposite of what his bosses think. I'm not saying he does think differently, I'm just saying it's possible as he wasn't really in a strong position to say so even if he did think that way. Or if he did share their opinion we could still give him the benefit of possibly changing his mind over the last few years in the face of staggering evidence.

I just don't understand why people have it in for Rule and try to pin the on-field problems on him. It has not been within his power to alter that so far.

I'd agree if he'd not specifically gone out of his way to say what he said. If he'd just come up with some statement about agar being the right man I'd think differently

I don't know about that because I don't know what was said. But a large part of his job is to promote the club and portray everything as rosy. So I would completely expect him to regurgitate the thoughts of the board to both support the club as doing the right thing, and to present a harmony of thinking amongst everyone. Pearson has already almost categorically stated that the last point is not true.



I don't for certain, in the same way that you don't know for certain that it has. He's not a shareholder, so was likely to have little say in the coaching appointment or the subsequent job security of it. I don't therefore see how he could affect on-field performance.

The main problem evident from the fans' reaction last night is that some, even a majority, are happy to 'run Wigan close and "unluckily" lose'.

I think it's happens a lot more when we lose. There was a distinct lack of moaning when we beat Salford.

Just got to hope that Pearson is a lot sharper than many people and can see what the OP said. It's been pretty clear for at least two seasons to anyone with eyes and a brain that Agar wasn't up to assembling a squad capable of competing at the top and far less able to coach at this level. All the rubbish about "nearly fourth" last season and injuries and not his team etc was easilly seen through yet many believed it. Hopefully now that AP's attention will have been firmly on watching FC's performances he'll recognise what needs to be done.
