It's only the same as on here though, I suppose, look hard enough and there are usually scores of directly opposing rumours. They were saying that he'd told Osbourne not to pursue Orford as he had his own idea on what to do. Think it was the possible money issue too.

I personally think the more pertinent point is whether it would be daft for Parramatta to pay that much and devote a huge wedge of salary cap to a 33-year-old scrum half who missed half of the season injured.
Imagine the uproar on here if Agar decided that was the answer to our problems.

I'd like to be fair to Agar on this one, I think 'injury issues' would have been an unfair description of Long at the time we signed him.

He played 5 games more in 2009 than he did in 2010 and that for a team who got to the CC semis and the GF

8 more games when you add in the playoffs according to [url=http://www.slstats.org/p221/Sean+Long.htmlthis[/url. He also played about as many games in 2008 and 2009 as he ever has in his career, and only 3 less than 6-years-younger Rob Burrow managed in the same seasons in an even more successful side. As I said, 'injury issues' was not a fair description of Long at the time we signed him.

I agree. And Kyle Eastmond hardly had an injury free season did he? Were his injuries anything to do with his age?

No, but still a questionable decision in my opinion bearing in mind last season was supposed to be a transitional period, because we will have too find a new halfback in 2012 along with a whole host of positions, and be back to the same position as 2010.
That said, finding a long term halfback is easier said then done, look at Parramatta, I remember years ago Tim Smith been hailed as the long awaited answer to there halfback problems, and years later still in the same boat.

Until the coaching staff (ie the Attack Coach) can drill into
the existing players, to run off the ball along with dummy runners to create space.
Our attacking play will never improve, even if we signed Thurston and Lockyer.

Personally, I don't envisage anything will improve in the next 2 years.
Since Richard Agar, took full control, there has been no improvement, players still play as individuals, and are not gelled into a unit.
We lack the basics of RL, we dont backup, our passing is too slow, and without
no support,we are restricted to playing one out, and players taking the ball at a standing start.
Our fans deserve better, player recruitment has been blamed, and so has injuries
. but there can be no excuse, that player's cannot back up the ball carrier.
The big worry for mine,is the attitude of the board/Rule ,are of the opinion,
is that the coach is not the differenciator between teams who spend the maximum on the salary cap.
I look forward to the day, when the board realise to sign a coach, who would put this famous club on a par with Wigan and St Helens.
But......... I ain't holding my breath.

Mate, you need to realise a couple of things and it will make your FC supporting days much, much easier to deal with:
1) The board are not supporters of the club in the way we are. They took the club on when it was in a mess and have turned it around off the field. We need to be thankful for that but it does mean that every decision which is made is done from a financial perspective, not a playing success one
2) A top class coach will only want to work in an environment where they make the decisions on all aspects to do with the on field side of the club. Hull aren't set up (or prepared?) to allow a coach to do that and it means that we will never have a top coach here whilst the current administration is in place. It is one of the key reasons mcrae left us when he was on the verge of success with the club.

You're entitled to your opinion. In mine, a player who is 33 and missed around 1/3rd of the previous season due to injuries starts the warning bells ringing and my warning bells were proven right

And my opinion is that a broken jaw hardly counts as injury prone in rugby league. Or do you think that his ankle problems and dislocated elbow are linked to it?

I think it means he's prone to picking up injuries wheras 10 years ago his younger, less knackered body may have been able to stand up to some of the punishment more. Maybe he's getting more fatigued now and getting into positions in tackles where he's more likely to get injured. Who knows? The fact that the injuries aren't connected doesn't make hime any less injury prone

But as I've already pointed out, his career has been typified by playing around the 20 game mark, so your insistence on it being age-related doesn't hold up to scrutiny. 5 years ago he had his face smashed in and just because he was younger didn't mean he could stand up to it, 8 and 9 years ago he managed only 25 games in 2 years, but then followed up with an ever-present season.
Age is less important than the nature of the injuries. Briscoe and Eastmond are both still young kids but have had pretty bad ankle problems each already, should they be signed to the scrap heap?
