What he had the physicallity (sp) and stamina to do it all game in the backrow though, I am not convinced.

i would like to see whiting in the pack next season, not sure if he could do as well as he does in the backs but it's worth a shot if rumours about tickle/radford leaving are true

whiting bulked up a while ago but then broke his leg early in the season so his plans plyaing in the pack were interupted. if he plays in the pack then we have him and washy who could play 13....just a thought

if and when calders comes back,where will whiting go?can't see turner being dropped at the moment,as he's really starting to come into his own now.

Turner has been a revelation in recent weeks. He looks dangerous every time he attacks near the opposition line and he is probably our form centre at the moment. In all honesty, Calderwood will have to wait for his chance. If Turner and Whiting are playing well as a partnership (ditto Briscoe and Yeaman) then there is no place for Calderwood.

Whiting needs a position but definitely needs moving off the bloody wing when we've got calderwood back.

The reason he gets these interceptions is that he can read a game really well a lot of players are faster but don't have the positional sense to know where to go for the ball

I laugh everytime I see him take an interception - then cheer through tear filled eyes as he makes 20,30,40m then looks for an offload and starts to run round in small circles whilst he gets tackled.
I think if he ever does score off an interception we should go MAD

What is really depressing is despite his lack of pace there is never anyone there for him to offload to after he has run 20,30 40m.



To be fair he is not in the team for his pace; its the one attribute he lacks, but he has many other qualities. He may not be the quickest runner in the team but he is one of the quickest thinkers, has good hands and is good in defence.

Well we won't know until he gets tried there but I don't see him playing in the backrow anytime soon.

He's going to have to be tried, what's going to happen when Calderwood is fit? Can't drop Turner in the form he's in.

I always get drawn into the mistake of getting excited when Whiting makes an interception. I'm instantly on my feet screaming GO ON!!! until i remember he isn't getting any further than the halfway line. Still always a great play from him though and if he ever had some support we would actually score some trys.

My excitement stems from the fact he just saved yet another try. Anything else is a bonus.

As for the debate about his ability to play backrow in physical terms I have no doubt that he could.

I don't blame Rich for only going 40 metres or so. What about his interception at Rovers, went about 70 metres, leaving bodies in his wake and then he got brought all the way back by the ref!

Get Calders/Lynne back on the wing, get RW in the middle where he can get his hands on the ball without having to make interceptions! If Horne not back, get rid of Washbrook and put Whiting there.

The biggest issue with whiting's lack of pace when he intercepts is that our lack of backing up means we never turn these breaks into tries. whiting isn't very quick. We all know that so I don't see why people go on about it

I LOVE Whiting and I for one will sink a pint in his honour when he scores an interception. In fact there should be a pitch invasion when he scores one.
Hopefully he will move into the forwards by 2012 and win a Lance Todd
