What an excellent game this lad had today. Saved tries, scored tries and showed up the veteran players by making good headway with the ball. IMO MOM. As for Finn when we were attacking the Norhstand he looked like a rabbit in the headlights. I think we will be lucky to win another game and could finish up exactly the same as last season. We are desperate for a good playmaker but look like we are stuck with the mediocre bunch we have got. Hope for better but not confident.

Tom was brilliant but we are heading towards MPG ,Calling MC we need a scrum half asap

Johnstone was outstanding in both defence and attack.

Some of our more experienced players need to learn from him regarding, effort, enthusiasm and ability.
Apart from Toupu, he was head and shoulders above his teammates.

Have to agree he was excellent. Showed a few of his more illustrious, and no doubt better paid, teamates up.

I've not seen much in him to be fair, but I thought he was superb today and went a long way to changing my mind. Excellent in defence made some really good decisions and showed loads of bottle and heart at times when his team mates didn't seem bothered.

Agree MOM, improving on good performance at Wolves last week. He backed himself and it paid off. As for Finn and Miller ,, best left unsaid.

Could do with another twelve Tom Johnstones. Certainly my man of the match with Toupou second. Every time Johnstone got the ball his face should just how much he wanted those points. Pity about the three tries that could have been. No one would have caught Johnstone on that third occasion. Again, we did not seem to get the rub of the green from Bentham.

Tom is a future international it's a shame yet again that he will probably have to move clubs to achieve this . Let's hope we make the most of him while he's still ours

Apart from England and Tupou our forwards appeared out gunned by Catalan today. Our half backs aren't world beaters so it's important that it's at least level pegging in the forward battle but it wasn't today.

I think Finn went well today, we looked threatening with the ball, just a shame we were 20 odd nil down when we got any possession.

Miller huffed and puffed but not much end product in the end unfortunately. Best performance as a pairing this season, not saying much but still it's there.

Easily MoM today. Only player who stood out.

Great to hear Tom had a great game today,would have been out on loan now if the top coaches on here had their way.Sadly I couldn't witness his performance I was watching Jordan at York. Having watched Tom for a few years I've said before that Tom will be a top player in the future and hopefully in the red white and blue of Trin.

If we keep SL status then I think he will be an international in his time with us. He's a good old fashioned winger who is only going to get better.
I can't say it about a lot of modern day wingers, most of them are just power and speed with no footwork ability, swerve etc but this lad has it all and most of all he has desire to win !

Really, what about Tupou I thought he changed the game when he came on. Thought TJ put in an outstanding performance but in terms of sheer graft and composure it was Tupou all the way for me.

Completely agree. TJ was good, but without Tupou we wouldn't have got to double figures. The only person who asked any questions at all in the first half.

Have to say Tupou is a class above any forward we have. Some of his offloads were excellent. Players like Miller should be running of him. Look forward to seeing more of him!

We have the core of a competetive team, especially Arona, Tupou, Johnson, England which are all mainly B Smith signings. There are just not enough of that ilk and too many that are just not up to the intensity. We were just blown away with their power for the first 20-30 mins which too many just couldnt handle.

Sorry for the late reply dj, he came on at 2nd row after 15mins and stayed on till the end. Tackled really well didn't use him enough to run it in but run some good lines, overall a solid game for a first game with a new team. Nice to cheer him on in a winning side
