There is an old adage in RL that if you don't make mistakes you're not doing anything - Smith personifies this for me.

Most over rated player I have ever seen. I have been consistent in my belief that he is lazy and not what we need. I was talking to a very credible former international player that said "for every good thing that Smith does he does 2 bad things" - he is soft as they come - I mean the entire squad is soft - so very soft but he is like a marsh mallow.

It is a hard game to play but especially when you are playing with 11 men i.e. no half backs. Miller was missing for long periods of the game and Smith was pathetic. What was the point of trying to drop a goal from an impossible area and what difference would a single poit make. Tom Johnstone scored a couple of good tries but his defence needs some work and Owen was just doing favours for his old mates., kicks out on full, knock ons, glass back etc. I am glad MC hasn't taken the cheap option and Smith stays for a while doing for us what he did at Bradford.

I don't see that at all. He is putting a lot of effort in but he is a passer and needs some runners.
His kicking isn't great but we have no one better and for the supposed Princess of the defence he was first to tackle the kick return on 2 if not 3 occasions.
He needs a partner who can kick and some people who can catch and run.

Smith is undoubtably playing poorly this year, his kicks have got particularly poor, but yet who else in our squad could replace him?
And since the entire team are playing total sh8te then TS is on a hiding to nothing trying to create something.

Things need sorting out and Im sure Brian Smith will be on to it real soon.

Smith needs to be behind a winning pack as do most halves to be fair, but especiallyb him. He has one game and if the forwards are struggling he is pants. If you want a half to play in a struggling team its not him

In his haste to blame one player for the sorry state of the club, he got a little carried away on the keyboard, without bothering to check the spelling.

He will no doubt receive sympathy that some pedant criticizes his grammar, but for heaven’s sake at least start a thread with the correct spelling!

I have been a champion of Timmy over his time at the club & I still believe that with a pack who could at least hold their own, he can still do the business.

He’s very much a confidence player, not sure how much his illness contributes to this, but right now the whole team is in a mental rut.

The pack are second best in just about every game I have seen. No problem with effort but the size and ability are below standard.
For any scrum half to perform he need to play behind a dominant pack and Smith ait had that luxury. His half back partners also not up to scratch. We have missed a stand off all season . However Smiths attitude seems wrong to me.

Paul Sykes scored 4 tries for Featherstone yesterday and kicked 6 goals totalling 28 points in total. I'm not suggesting that one player on his own would make a difference but in my opinion he is a SL standard player playing in the championship that Wakefield should have retained this season to play at 6 alongside Tim Smith. He has a good kicking game and it takes some of the responsibility away from Smith.

Trinity also seem to need to Kirke, Ashurst and Lauitiiti back ASAP to bolster the pack which loses the forward battle every week.

Exactly. It's easy to blame Tim Smith when he has been the only halfback on the pitch when his 6 has been non existent. Even the Skyes bashers have to admit Miller is the worst halfback ever to don the Wakey shirt, I'd even bring Jeremy Smith.

The stand off situations been a bag of all season.
The players replaced last season would all get in the squad at the moment. Its a complete shambles . The pack just aint good enough and that includes all of them, plenty of effort but low on ability.

Agree with this apart from Scruton who has been effective.

What if there happened to be a scenario that certain players, even those under contract, have already got themselves deals lined up for next season elsewhere which would be activated should we go down. Now those deals are at clubs deemed more safe in superleague than ours and are actually worth more money and/or a longer deal than their current one so better for them and their families. So if/when we go down then it is an instant release, no negotiations, no transfer fees no nothing but if we were to stay up then it could be much more awkward to get a release and those deals could be scuppered. Do we think that could effect the effort being put in? And all this in addition to the players out of contract next year who will be announced as signing for other clubs for next year before the seasons end. Ridiculously given the season we have had there will not be many players in this squad who won't get a deal elsewhere if/when we are relegated. I believe their heads have already been turned and i think this is at the crux of the lack of desire problem, it's maybe in their personal interests if we do go down.
