Awesome film from 1965, including after 15 mins a piece on Wakefield Trinity from Belle Vue.

| Classic i was 17 and remember it well, especially like to see the cars. My first car was a Zephyer six like the first car shown outside the station but maroon colour, it had a column gear change and bench seats ( great courting car), trouble was only got 19 miles per gallon. The trinity era was at its peak and i luved it i recon it was the best era to be 17 years old with a triumphant trinity and sixties music every thing in waky was buzing people actually smiled.

I'd agree with you, apart from it was the age of DISCO!
I was obviously a lover not a fighter

I was good at neither!
Loved the punk scene, used to walk into the pubs in Wakey with my pyjamas on, hair spiked up, leather bike jacket on, felt a million dollars, but had to get used to hassle though.

| By that brought back memories. Eastmoor (off Ivy Lane and Sawley Close). What looked like Cathedral School. Harry Hayleys model shop, it was like I was a kid again.
Trying to work out who we were playing and it looked like it might have been Warrington. Anyone know who it was.

| The year I was born, I know that'll take the shine off it for a few but never mind.
The shots of s bustling market and market house show just how poor their replacements are.
I remember squeezing through a sea of shoppers between the open market stalls, while clinging to my mums hand in fear of being swept away by the tide of people coming the other way.

Remember Hayleys and upstairs in The Eagle Press being the places to get rid of your pocket money.
Wakefield looked so alive and so clean on the film. Wonder how much of the degeneration has been due to the demise of the Wakefield City Council and its subsequent replacement by the Metropolitan Republic at the start of the 70's.
Having been born and brought up living just off Kirkgate and going to school on Zetland Street (Sally Army there now) it certainly is a sad place to return to these days. The City of Leeds has left us for dead.

| On the subject of old footage the official site has 15 minutes or so of the 1963 final. There is some monster defending and plenty of questionable knock ons. It’s played at a pretty ferocious pace too!

| Just watched that myself. I like how the line is so deep when running the ball.
Everybody plays right up to the advantage line these days which clearly has it's benefits but I do still like the long running lines in those days

Yeah I saw that too, very interesting how the game was played. Had a search and found a few more old games, the 79 cup final is on too. Topliss was quality.
