| Jacques reminded me of hooker Billy Conway on another thread, but after to Kosanovic/ Oakes, how many can we remember since 1970 and who would be the stand out?
McCurrie, Handforth, Bell, Maskill, etc....Aiton???

| I used to rate Ray Handscombe. He did a job when hookers had to actually win the ball. Was a tough guy as well. Think McCurrie ousted him and he moved on to Featherstone where he continued to shine.
One of our 1st Super League hookers Ian Talbot did OK and kicked goals.

| I agree with Desond that McCurrie was indeed ahead of his time. A very clever player.
Billy Conway and as a convert Nigel Bell would be my favourites after him.
Matt Fuller always looked like he'd be something special if he'd had a better team around him
Jumping to present day, I like Aiton for many reasons but one thing really stuck with me. I have been in the legend's suite a few times recently and really enjoy talking to the old legends, especially Geoff Oakes who is a real character.
When we played Wigan James Elston interviewed a couple of the injured players, who in this case were Raleigh and Aiton.
He then went and had a chat with Geoff Oakes and Ian Booke about the 1963 win and I (and my nephew) noticed how intently Aiton was listening. He was keen to know what these guys had to say and especially Oakes as a hooker. He came over and shook their hands afterwards.
After listening to him and seeing this as well he strikes me as an intelligent guy who respects and really wants to be at the heart of the club, including the history before his time.
He won me over then and I reckon we'll be talking about his time here for a long time.

I thought Matt Fuller played 13, don't remember him at 9.
I may well be wrong due to having a poor memory when it suits

Matt Fuller was a 13 as far as I was concerned and he was my favorite player when I was a youngster. I thought I saw someone who looked similar to him on the legends walk? Was it him? If not who would I be confusing him with?
Matt Fuller was a fantastic player.

I'm now wondering whether I forgot his position or I got the wrong name.....I need to think about that.

Correct, but he definitely arrived with the 9 tag on his back so he must have been to start with.

| I thought Fuller was originally a loose forward that we converted to a 9. From recollection he was terrible to start with and then came good but I was young then and memory may be wrong (as I was with the Summers "Try" referee).
