What fantastic defending witnessed by the fans at the stobart stadium. The tackles made were rock solid. Wakefield it appeared were up against the sky meadia, the playing surface, the margin meter and the ref. I knew that once we got a fair share of the ball the Widnes defence would crack. Not many teams can carry on attacking and defending after taking the knocks issued by the Wakefield players,with in the rules of the game might i add. This new Wakefield team certainly possess grit and determination. Thank you Richard Agar and the Wakefield team,the journey to Widnes and the stand in the cold temperatures was well worth the effort. I hope Tim Smith enjoyed his champaign on ice for his man of the match performance

I thought our defensive effort was the most pleasing part of our game.keep them out and we'll contest most games.

The defence was awesome. Widnes will be aching and carrying a lot of burns come the end of the season. I hear they have booked an end of season surgeon to carry out skin grafts. I suppose they will eventually play out of their skin.

I agree completely Normy Cat, made me proud on Friday to witness that team performance. Seems Wakefield is buzzing again, loads of shirts and scarves on display at Asda at Durkar just now and people discussing the team. Amazing what a good performance and the TV cameras can do.

Moment of the match for me was Steve Southerbs tackle on Kavanagh mid way through the first half when he looked all set to score. Where on earth did he come from to make that, tackling perfection too

Worth the entrance fee just for that txckle. Southern definitely has "grit & determination", right in front of the Wakey faithfull as well !

Southern is a very hurtful tackler - a combination of good technique and being as hard as nails.

also though Aiton's tackling technique was excellent.

Very good win for us on Friday, what was impressive also was the players interaction with the crowd - they encouraged us to gee them up and we responded. Very good performance (all things considered) very good win and a cracking atmosphere with the players and fans bouncing off eachother.
