He doesn't avoid collisions though does he? He just passes to a winger if the pass is on, probably since his coach tells him to do that.
I think Max Jowitt is a good player but the way some people talk about him on here you'd think we had one of the Aussie immortals being kept out of the team. There was even a guy on here who knew some Dewsbury fans and he said they weren't particularly that impressed by Max Jowitt when he was on loan there.

There were lots of times in last Sunday's game when I thought we were. How many times did you see the ball pass between more than two pairs of hands and out to the wings? Alright, the defense were very quick off the mark (offside?) and closed us down, but there didn't seem many attempts to move the ball along the line.

Happy to leave this to CC to manage.'"
Can't understand why he's not selected, because I believe Grix is looking a little jaded, I agree with some others on here: why was he dropped after that Salford performance?

| Sorry lads but i cant stand this max v grix debate , the kids called jowitt ,fox was foxy ,poynton was poynton , any thing else is pathetic. Grix makes mistakes yes but he can win a game , ive said it before jowitts a good support player but he cant tackle , ive heard folk on here talk about grixies positional play, com,on never seen young jowitt get within a couple of yards of anyone scoring a try agains us .,why do you think jowitt if hes as good as some say on here isnt getting his chance , the coach thinks grix is the best choice ,simple

| I reckon Jowitt will have gained more experience this season working along side Grix than at any other time in his career and Wakey will reap the benefits of that for next few seasons. You dont have to be on the pitch all the time to get experience.

And that's it in a nutshell.
Personally, I think we'll see Jowitt in the 8's, because as has already been said, Grix has looked a bit fatigued for the last couple of games, which is understandable, given that he's played a lot.
What's the expected timescale on Johnstone's return by the way - is he out for the whole season?

| He nearly gave me a heart attack three times with risky passes on out line after collecting a high ball against Saints but that risky play has brought us some entertaining rugby this year. Grix has been on the whole fantastic this year and hopefully young Max is learning from him.
I honestly thought Grix would be a utility back to replace Hall but he's given us far more than that most of the time.

This sums it up for me.
Grix is a target because it's his turn.

Most teams are using the strategy now of outside backs taking the first couple of runs out of yardage - it works well in many instances - especially with a player like MCB, who can step through tackles and put the hammer down; Johnstone was making a speciality of that too before his injury.
I tend to agree it can be a bit heart in mouth, but it saves some gas for the forwards and creates opportunities in broken play - and I'd rather that, than boring, predictable, 5 drives and a kick; and I like the endeavour of a long pass, rather than that annoying "was it forward, was it not" hand-off kind of pass, that Tomkins favours.

| I agree Bren. Of course it has to be in line with your skill but I will always back endeavour and creativity over safety.
That's been a theme this year and us great to watch.

There's zero logic to that. "Oh, I'm going to say X about Scott Grix because it's his turn".
You don't actually believe that do you? Come on now...

Trinity may well have been in the vanguard of this trend of wingers taking the first couple of runs. Go back 4 or 5 years when Cockayne and Foxy were doing this. With good effect too.

| Last season I thought Jowitt could potential become our equivalent Jamie Shaul. Couldn't help being reminded of that watching his try scoring in today's semi.

Difficult to prove I know, and probably not over the first few yards but once in full flight I think Max might just have the edge.
