Take whatever opinion you like, the fact is you’re making excuses for him. He’s played 40 first grade games for us which is more than a full seasons worth and hasn’t done anything to make me think he should ever have that number 1 shirt.

Many on here say he’s comfortable under a high ball - I should bloody hope so as a fullback but then again Hull FC earlier in the season springs to mind massively where he was solely at fault for 2 tries when letting the ball bounce.

He also didn’t get the official rookie of the year award did he so let’s not sugar coat that.

You may want someone better but the evidence shows he is more than capable of playing Super League.

Hes is wrong but I get what he is trying to say, the Rookie of the Year is decided by a bunch of journalists at the league express so is not as big a accolade as SL Young player of the year. Not taking anything away from him I thought he was probably in contention to be SL young player of the year in 16 had Johnstone not burst onto the scene the way he did.

You know through this whole thing, not one person has actually said anything other than that “he’s one of our own” crap to make me think “they’re right”.

I expect a fullback to be able to catch a ball and as I’ve said he’s clearly made more than a few errors underneath.

He’s thrown one or two good passes but I have seen more than a few of you admit Grix is miles better at it.

He has a slim to non running game, I don’t think I’ve seen him carry the ball further than 6/7 meters at a time.

Let me just say this as well, I hope he proves me wrong against Warrington presuming he starts and the fixture after that and the next and so on but I can’t see it happening.

He had a few games in a row didn’t he when Grix was injured and everyone was calling for him to return ASAP. They even tried Rocky infront of him which admittedly didn’t work but why would that even go through Chester’s mind?

Personal opinion is that Jowitt is definitely good enough to be our starting FB. Solid under the high ball, 1 on 1 defense has improved massively this year and when he has been given a run of games i think he has linked with the attack well. Grix probably just shades Jowitt on how he links with the attack but you would expect that with his experience. He also seems to have a bit of extra pace which has been a criticism of Grix since he re-signed with us.

The award is literally not the real deal, it’s like this Fans award that Musson is blabbing on about. It’s obviously good to see but it’s not prestigious or official in any way.

Jowitt will always be a contentious issue. Half thinks he's got something to offer (Maybe he has if he's not on a lot of money & is always going to be a second choice) & half just don't like him at all. I've seen most of his games I think & I'm in the latter category I'm afraid. I will say this tho, As far as I know after playing all those games a couple of years ago & going out on loan (Again as far as I know) he's never had an offer from anybody else. & he just plays when Grix is out injured I don't think Chester believes in him as much as some of the people do on here. Am I a troll Vastman for saying this.

It was well noted that we turned down an approach from Warrington for him at one point, i am sure MC confirmed it at the time.

Fwiw I would not put Wakey warrior in the same bracket as you, I actually think there is substance to his posts (Not that I agree with a lot of the things he says) but that`s what the forum is about.

I haven't seen Trin18 offer any evidence that Jowitt is not up to SL. He's steady under the high ball, improved his 1 on 1, has good link up play with the backs and and has several occasions set up Johnstone.

We also got to a CC semi final with him as our fullback.
