| Quote ="Brightside"No issues with his pace or support play. It's his decision making, dire kicking game and poor defence which let him down. His pet play of the flat (usually forward) suicide pass into traffic also irks me as it seems he cannot stop himself from trying it. At 29 with his experience I expect a little better.'"
Come off it, I can accept the rest as opinion but that's simply not true, you do realise he's a small player and occasionally small players lose the tussle.

If memory serves he was the 2nd highest in the missed tackles stat in the whole of Superleague last season .. 85 in 15 games if I recall correctly. I get that he's small and that smart coaches will target him but for me he goes too high and is too easy to bounce off. Checkout the Hardcastle opening score last weekend and his attempted goalline defence for an example of what I mean.

Was that after Arona (a prop) tried tackling Hardcastle and got put on his booty?
Can’t blame Miller for that when a prop failed to take down a back running at him.
As for Miller I’m fine with him. He tackles well above his weight. He does on ocassion get bumped off and miss some but that’s due to the amount he gets involved in defensively. Miller has his limitations yes but he’s good for us. He just needs a partner that can organise and be the yin to his yang. Mason seems the closest fit we’ve seen to that.
The only thing I criticise Miller for is his line crash balls that he sends to the runner (usually Ashurst) that end up getting smashed. Sometimes you need balls like that but not when he has a runner and wide options behind the man he’s sending a hospital pass to.

I honestly think that's part of his Yip, he's been doing it to him for years, you'd swear it was personal

You sound a bit like Mopsey on this issue, though I'm not accusing you of being him, your grammar is far too good (sorry real Mopsey).

I must admit me and the few who I stand with on occasions have had a little laugh and said “I bet Ashurst hates Miller” because it does seem personal lol. Wonder if Ashurst stole Millers wagon wheel or something at training lol.

You're quite right about Arona. FWIW I wouldn't have resigned him. A good servant to the club but a season too far I fear. I don't blame Miller for the try, I was merely quoting an example of his poor technique.

Giving the ball at the line isn’t a heads up play ... either the defence anticipates and the runner takes the hit ... or they don’t and the line is bent or broken... without running these plays the ball out the back becomes too predictable.... it’s an occupational hazard for wide forwards ... and I speak a an ex wide forward and later stand off ( so I gave and received if you will!)

| I agree with Watsons comments the rule should stay all season even if France change it. If they lift restrictions and some teams have had to go short of best players and others go later in season unvaccinated it makes a mockery of the competition

You could argue that Catalans being allowed to play an even greater number of home games against weakened opponents also makes it a mockery.

| Quote ="vastman"Yep, he did it to one of Fevs bigger players.
I really like Miller these days as he's made the best of himself.
I honestly think that if there is any validity in sports psychiatry he'd benefit. For me, he's definitely got what golfers call a 'Yip' in his game. He does everything right and then in the last moment loses his nerve. Thus he shapes up for the long pass then suddenly he drops it short, normally to poor old Ashurst who thought he was the dummy runner, ditto with kicks, it's on but then it's either way too short or too long. Obviously, this doesn't happen every time but it's often enough to stop him from reaching his true potential. If he could banish that from his game then he'd be a brilliant all-around player.
In fairness to Miller, that's the difference with all players at all levels, total self-belief is an uncommon gift or curse.'"
I think you mean sport psychology. Very different thing to psychiatry.
But I do agree. I'd say it applies to the whole team but Miller especially.
I also think he gets a bad name for giving bad passes to Ashurst where he keeps running into defenders. For me this us more Ashurst's issue. When others play left they don't run the same line, Tanginoa especially.

I disagree. The clubs and platers are in control of who can go to France.
It's like saying because there were roadworks on the M62 for half the season, the other teams have to set off at the last minute otherwise they get better preparation time.

Thought they were the same thing but I bow to you on this one.
You might be right regarding Ashurst but either way they need to have words.

I think Ashurst is a bit too robotic. He runs the same line over and over again. A few years ago it worked a treat but defences now expect it and he hasn’t adapted or evolved. He just keeps hitting that same unders, short ball hard line with defenders now wise to it and waiting for him.
