Highly unlikely! They'll be a clause somewhere that says construction won't start until the contracts are signed hence i said thats probably the one thing that could prevent the development getting moving. They'll be expressions of interest no doubt but until they sign up it will always be the fly in the ointment.

| You can rest assured that everything will be 'watertight'.
The Castleford 'mafia' councillors will ensure that.
Never believed Box and his cohorts were fully committed to the Newmarket project.
This is the one they really want for both the rugby club and Castleford area.
I would even vote for candidates with whom I have no political sympathies if I thought there was a democratic chance of ousting them!

Even I think moving to Glasshoughton, which is very much in Castleford, would be a move that would lead to the ultimate death of WTW.
However, you would first have to convince Castleford to give up the Freehold (or give half of it away at least) to this new proposed ground, which is of course very unlikely to happen. This is not a community stadium project, despite what it might have been called in the press. The planning documentation is clear, the Freehold of the stadium has to be transferred to Castleford Tigers prior to the occupation of any other part of the site.
So, there is no option to share anything, you would only ever be a paying tenant.
I have given up trying to predict whether things will called in for a PI or not, so only time will tell, it will depend on whether anyone with 'clout' writes to the SoS office and objects and are able to make seemingly valid enough arguments for a PI.
I think it probably will be handed back and they will start on the open-cast mining this summer and then after the back-filling, muck-shift and retaining wall build, the construction will start on the site in early 2016, with the ground being ready for the start of the 2017 season.

Yes and it clear planning the stadium must be built first and nothing else can be built till the the stadium handed over.

You go on about about our councillors but I have to say a confessed a wakie fan who voting on the council yesterday seamed very keen for it to pass the project I was in there yesterday and thought he was going to be very hard work but to his credit he was very surpotive.

It's bad enough going to their ground once a season, to go there 13/14 times a season is unthinkable, I'd walk away from the game first

| Ground share "cough, spit, fume" in Cas NO WAY would I support a team called Calder and let the RFL get what they have wanted for years because that's what the outcome would be a merger of clubs.

And that's how it should be. The criticism is that Box and his cronies would never act like that. Any chance of these one eyed councillors being ousted rest on a Labour Government being in power and unpopular (I know the two normal come together). Don't think I'll see Labour in power nationally again in my lifetime so looks like I need to outlive Box.

| Being a tenant at Cas would be curtains for Wakey and a 'merger' of sorts would inevitably follow. I always thought that the first stadium to be built in the area would be the only one to be built and now it seems that is going to be the one decked in orange. Another nail in the already nailed shut coffin of Newmarket. Just can't see two stadiums appearing 10 minutes apart, i fully expect the council to withdraw any lingering support for it soon.
So what about the Belle Vue refurb? Is it practical? Are the rumours true that the superbowl and gym have been sold and does this put the kybosh on it? Is this what carter meant at the supporters meeting?

I to think the first to get a stadium will progress, and at the moment its not us. The only other way we will survive is with BV upgrade, if not I fere for us

Its just been an on going calamity for years. we can only take care of ourselves we had chance with durker and some Idiot wanted more. Wonder who that was LORD T.

Been for a jog around Pugneys today followed by a sandwhich and a juice at the new Starbucks just down the round. As I sat there looking out of the window I couldn't help but think it was the absolute best place a new stadium could get built.
Easy access to motorways
A few Pubs nearby
Subway/KFC/Thurstons/Wetherby Whaler/Toby carvery
Sandal Cadtle
Pugneys
A stadium there would be superb

None of these existed at the time Pugneys was suggested. Probably pre- ASDA and Asdale Road too. Only the wild fowl and Pugneys Pirates maybe?

You don't say, I thought I'd just missed them being there for the last 50 years that I've lived in Wakefield!
Unless I passed through a time warp while jogging round Pugneys, they're there now and now is when I'm talking about!

| I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but Newmarket was passed by the council but called in by Mr Pickles who I believe represents the Conservative party.
Why is it the councils fault they have only given Castleford what they had provided us with several years ago. The difference is I hope for them a more honourable developer.
I have not read anything that suggests the blame lies with anyone other than the developer.
I guess some on here are more interested in making political points rather than asking why is it the council's fault the stadium is not being built.

The council have bent a few rules in order to make the Cas stadium happen. There's not much wrong with that, but what it proves is the attitude difference compared to that with the Wakey ground! If they really do support NM, as they say they do, then help us - and that goes for BV if it works out best for us to stay there!
11 years and counting!

There is a binding contract in place to say the stadium must be built first. The council have learnt their lessons with Newmarket and looked to close all potential loopholes.

You keep saying this but like I and a few others have said, it's more about WMDC seemingly wiping their hands of the whole situation that they were involved in. Instead of making the right noises when Yorkcourt was obviously trying to wriggle out of their aggreement and then putting pressure on them to fullfill their end of the deal. All you have to do is read what Box said in an interview about Newmaket, if someone can find it, which if I remember right was something along the lines of its nothing to do with me gov'.
