Not really was it. They battered Arsenal, the team that destroyed all Villereal in the 1/4 final, from the off. Arsenal had a decent spell of possesion to start without threatening. United broke with pace for the first goal, and the slip by Gibbs is taking the limelight of what was an excellent finish from Park. Blame Almunia for the second if you want, but that was an outstanding free kick. It was past him in no time.

United played at a tempo that Arsenal couldn't deal with. The pace they have is scary. The third goal demonstrated that. That is how you play an away tie in Europe. The earlier comment was spot on IMHO.

Players will catch other players with trailing legs in the process of tackling all the time. The fact of the matter is, the initial challenge and winning of the ball is what counts. Fletcher did that, brilliantly, hence it's never a penalty.

United were awesome at various points last night. When Ronaldo is in that mood, he is practically unplayable. I'm convinced these are the dying embers of his United career - hope he goes out in the best way imaginable.

As for the earlier post about this result being bad for United's league aspirations. Ball cocks. United's last 2 Champions League triumphs were in the same season they won the league - if anything the tough games they have will help keep focus ahead of the final.

I hope Barcelona get through tonight. I know that probably reduces United's chances of winning it but what a spectacle that could be. Plus it gives loads on here a great chance to put Barca players in their avatars.
