It was no more popular than it was pretty much everywhere else. It's a generic song sung by supporters of several clubs.

I have also been to Hamilton. D.D. is spot on - it is the ar$ehole of Lanarkshire and that is saying something.

And it is just a commuting town for Motherwell and Coatbridge.
