| How about 300 plus?
This series has exposed the myth that England have the best attack in the world.

True, and its exposed how bowling as a whole is now a dying art and the game has become geared towards batsmen bullying bowlers on flat tracks.
It also highlights that all these batsmen, with their artificially high averages, are being extremely flattered compared to the eras of yesteryear, when bowlers were the dominant force and batsmen had to work hard to get an average of above 40.
This South African attack is an ok one, but compared to some of the fearsome attacks of the 70's, 80's and 90's, it is very, very average.....No side around today would score more than 200 against a Lillie/Thomson Aussie attack or a Holding/Marshall West Indian attack, because none of the batsmen have techniques that could cope with high class bowlers.

I was slightly disappointed that we didn't go for it at Headingley when we had the chance, but I guess tomorrow we have no option.

| England have been outplayed from start to finish but have also blown the opportunities that have come there way. Peterson dropped early and made 180, ABDV and Amla dropped in this Test. Not good enough.
Hope there is a way back for KP but I very much doubt it.

Not a chance.
Booed onto the field at Southampton yesterday. Booed back off again one ball later. And what did for him? Slow left-arm

| Following the test on BBC text commentary, but it seems that Taylor has just gone for an all run 4, when we're already 3 wickets down and looking at saving, rather than winning, the match, and been run out. What on earth is he thinking of???

Another one for good measure?
If Swann had stayed in we might have had a chance, but as soon as he went that was game over IMO.
For me it's time we were seriously looking at replacing Strauss, 107 runs in the series, he might have achieved some great things for England as a batsman but he doesn't get enough runs for me.

Two run outs in one day is pretty horrific. Especially when we get to within 50 of them, another thing to cost us dear.

| Just goes to show how difficult it is to stay at the no.1 position once you get there, without thinking you're fecking king kong!! England have been nothing short of rubbish since they got there last summer.
Australia should be congratulated for staying there as long as thye did.......

Not doubting that, but when you spend nine months a year as a team in near-isolation, you need to get on.
ODI squad: Alastair Cook, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Craig Kieswetter, Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Graeme Swann, Jonathan Trott, Chris Woakes.
World t20 squad: Stuart Broad, Jonny Bairstow, Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Danny Briggs, Jos Buttler, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Alex Hales, Craig Kieswetter, Michael Lumb, Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Graeme Swann, Luke Wright.
effin Kieswetter. Just play Prior ffs

They do I agree but I don't like the way there seems to be a clique developing in the England team. It's not all KP's fault. Swann never got any grief over his book and a few of them write newspaper columns too which isn't always helpful.

true enough but the others aren't seen a particularly disruptive elements in the sheds - KP is an individual who actually believes all the hype written about him, he really belives he is better than the rest - he may well be but he should keep it to himself and be a real team member and not slag off his team mates
can you imagine Beefy or Sir Garfield et al doing that sort of thing in their heyday ?
Swanny couldn't have been more 'public' with his feelings, he didn't slag people off behind their backs ( as far as we konw)

I imagine that if I had to spend four months on tour with Swann, I'd punch his lights out at some point.

Ha!
Whilst it seems certain Lancs will now play in the second division of the Championship next season, a win in Bristol on Sunday sealed a semi-final spot in the CB40. One bright spot in a very grim season.
