Under the filing history header you will see the accounts for year ended 30 Nov 2017, click and download.
As you will see in the last 2 years Wigan has lost over £1m and IL continues to prop the club up, without him where would we be? - Turnover is up but "like for like" wages have increased by £240k (page 2) cash is down by £500k (p11). The lease note (p21) interests me because it appears the annual lease of £17k and is up for renewal this year and although note 22 (p22) does detail the fact that the club has access to a 25 year period. IL is not committing to the full term. This is understandable, but he's not committed to 5 years & I don't want to jump to conclusions, but if he did include a 5 year lease agreement the balance sheet would be even weaker.
Finally, why do these accounts get filed on the last day, is it another delaying tactic of bad news? It does follow is normal pattern...

The stadium only cost £307K (p16) to rent. Wigan council probably charge Leigh more than that.
For those of you who think that owning your own stadium is the be all and end all Saints lost around £1.4 million.
https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/comp ... ng-history
The truth is that the game is in a perilous state at present and needs better financing.
However Cas bucked the trend and made over £600K profit.

The lease referred to could be to do with the Central Park facility rather than the stadium. In the opening address it refers to moving to Robin Park and £3.5 million investment?
I believe work will start on Robin Park in November.

| having a ground is an albatross around your neck unless you can get it earning more than just SL home games, ie pop concerts, ground share with a footy team etc.
68 playing and coaching staff - up 6 on PY !!!
we all know the size of the squad, seems a lot of backroom boys??!!

Do the academy lads count under that? If so, I count 68 players without coaching staff. If they don't count, then 27 coaching staff seems like a lot for 41 players.

Yes it includes academy, not sure about scholarship though.

I do want us to have our own ground but I can’t disagree with what you’ve said there.
New Zealand Warriors have averaged 17k this year and next year have halved their season ticket costs to get a full house every game. I don’t know how much season tickets cost at Wigan and I can guess they’ll be fairly good value for money, but could we look at reducing the cost? I accept it’s a gamble but one that may pay off long term.

That business model bankrupt Bradford.
New Zealand Warriors (and all NRL clubs) get $12.5 million from the NRL.
Super League clubs get £1.8 million.

Having a negotiated 5 or 3000 year lease has zero effect on the balance sheet so don’t worry. You don’t have to provide for it, it’s just a note in the accounts.

| Does any one else see this as a possitive or just me?? Effectively we are 180k better off that the year before. Granted a loss is not good but a better loss than year before must be a good sign.

It’s going in the right direction definitely, regardless of the loss. Another loss is probably expected next year given the low crowds this season and another year with no Wembley with OT yet to be decided.

From what I recall even Lenegan isn't expecting mega money from the trip down under..the attendance in the double header was below what was expected and it impacted on it didn't or something along those lines, they won't have made a loss but I just cant see what they took from it, crowds down here and while of course you have to look for new money, you ignore the main source of income at your own peril.
I wonder if there is any intent from other SL to go down there? it does seem awfully quiet and I may be proven wrong think it won't happen again, an experiment, one backed by state government money from Aus,so always likely to get paid (im looking at you RFL and the promoter of the Denver test),but when their bean counters have gone through the books I wonder if they felt they got value for money?I doubt we will ever know.
