Nathen Brown is to return to Australia after the Final next week to take up coaching in the NRL.

Saints had given him permission to apply for a position with West Tigers , the reason for wanting to go given as family reasons.

He did not get the job but he is still going for the same family reasons.

It feels like it's been coming since day one. He's a good solid coach who spoke sense and waffle in equal measure at times.

I'd imagine KFC will step up to the plate.

Powell possibly? Or maybe Daniel Anderson?

It'll be one if the three but I think they'll go with the cheap option. They've already splashed out 50k for Burns and paid for the cladding so the budget may be blown!!

I think KFC will stay as assistant for now and Powell will stay at Cas. They will probably look to Australia again.

I'd be suprised if they don't have a go for Powell. I've quite enjoyed the last few years while they've had mediocre coaches and only one half. I'm concerned they may end up with a good coach and two halves for next year.

I said a few weeks ago I had a horrible feeling it will be St Helens' year this season. If the players like Brown this could give them that extra little bit to end up winning next week.

Brown was rumoured to be on a very good wage though.

Daryl Powell signed a 5 year extension to his contract in June this year. He's Castleford born & bred, why would he want to leave the club that now holds 'The Entertainers' mantle just yet?
