Not really. Its a step in the right direction but the WCC needs to be between the 2 teams who finish top of the NRL and SL with a massive price pot for the players of the 2 teams involved. And the WCC final in October. Unless the money is there it will always be a glorified pre season game.

I agree it's a step in the right direction but it's pretty ridiculous only announcing it with two games to go when the LLS is pretty close to being sewn up. It at least provides an incentive for finishing top. I also think it's pretty farcical that there doesn't seem to be a qualification procedure for the other two NRL teams. Their GF winners will play our GF winners then the other games will be contested with whichever NRL teams can be bothered with it. Those two games will be pre-season games, there's no other way of looking at it.

I've been a massive advocate of an expanded WCC, and I think it's a feasible route to increase the interest in the sport whilst we have a limited competitive international scene. But this proposed 3v3, 2v2, 1v1 doesn't really acheive much IMO. I'd love to see a full 8 team competition, but other than having one in the Octover/November slot at the expense of an international tournament I can't see it happening.

Good plan - need to be top 3 though

It's a bit of a farce that Brisbane are already included. They currently lie in 8th place without a hope of even reaching 6th, let alone the top 3. Don't mean to be negative about it but can't help but think that's a bit of a joke.

I can't wait to see three SL teams have their s handed to them.

So who gets in? The two grand finalists and the next highest finishing team?

From SL yes. From the NRL it will be champions + Souths and Brisbane regardless of finishing position/whether they reach the final or not.
