I have asked the club through Josie Andrews if it would help if fans volunteered to clear the stadium of rubbish etc after our scheduled match v Saints on the Saturday.

I await a response from the club.

I have created another thread as I would just like people to post here if they would in fact help because at the moment I will be on my own

Dont hold your breath waiting for a reply from Ms Andrews. And even if there was one, I'm sure there'd be something to do with "Elf & Safety" preventing this from happening.

I understand and respect what you are trying to achieve. Its beacuse there are fans such as you that the matter should have been sorted out by the officials of the clubs as soon as the draw was made.

I think that is unfair as Josie has sent me a copy of the email she has already sent to Kris Radlinski.

On the elf and safety note, I am sure there could be many barriers but we need to find out what they are and knock them down.

The alternative is bury your head in the sand but don't moan when we are playing at Leigh!

Surely clearing rubbish after the game is not the problem. The issue is the condition of the pitch, fans can't do anything about that!

Maybe Wigan RL should start to do sliding tackles and to hack at the pitch by kicking the ball directly from the ground.

What I am trying to do here is flush out the truth.

What is the logistical problem in turning the operation round in a day - is it the pitch? Is it the rubbish left behind?

My point is once we know the facts we can perhaps help. If the club say that it is the repair of the pitch that's the problem and only qualified people can work on it fair enough. At the moment all we get is Mr Whelan's telling us there is a 24 hour rule when this didn't seem to apply last year.

I appreciate the idea but this is a non-starter. the problem isnt with rubbish, its the apparent state of the pitch so unless you enlist the help of a few groundsmen, it aint gonna happen

It wont be. The stadium will be cleared and cleaned the evening/night of the game by whatever contracting company they use.

Sts, Salford, Widnes and Wire have no home game that weekend....there's 4 extra sets of groundsmen that IL could offer to contract at our cost........LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd do it to help. but it seems whilst every effort is being made by fans to find out the venue, the overall silence from the club is deafening.

It's not the rubbish that's the problem it's the apparent state of the pitch after a match (which we all know is a myth) if I was a player tomorrow I would absolutely RUIN that pitch as much as I could.

I know of one club who can't play on the ground they own at certain times as the pitch is used as a car park by another sport playing next door.

Is it not about time that Wigan made plans to build their own purpose built rugby league stadium and move away from Whelan and his football ground?

This is the 2nd time from my memory that I recall this happening and it amazes me that the famous name of Wigan RL are dictated to like this.

Surely if Wigan announced that they intended to move and build their own stadium, there wouldn't be a shortage of sponsors etc willing to throw money at it to make it happen would there?

What's happened this week up to now, is making Wigan look like the very poor relations to the Latics, when it should be the other way around!!! (I know there's more money ion football before people reply stating this)

We can't play two home games in 4 years I know let's try and develop a 30/40 million pound stadium that will never be granted planning permission.

Don't think there is a 24hour rule. The Prem League though sets standards over the condition of the pitch. The problem is that, should we play the game at the DW and the ground gets cut up badly, then Latics could be charged with not doing everything they can to maintain the condition of the pitch. Even if they win the final game they could technically forfeit the points.

It's the only slight disadvantage of sharing a ground with a premier league club.

There is a 24hr a rule which means no game could take place after 3pm on saturday and because the BBC are showing the game it wont be played on friday.

Its a bloody disgrace you lot got a A grade license when you can't play games when your told too. Hull FC never had this problem when Hull city were in the Premier League. Considering your supposed to be the biggest RL club in the world its very amatureish that you cant supply a ground to fulfill your fixtures!
