I saw that Peet was complaining about how slow the game has become, with pretty much every try sent upstairs, which takes minutes. I think the first half on Sunday took over an hour to complete. Peet argued that few of the players will feel tired given how much rest they're getting in the game, and it's destroying the spectacle IMO. Does anyone in charge really care? Do they think the video ref system is working well at the moment?

Three "officials" on the pitch and they can't make a decision - seems if a player goes through a gap it is automatically passed upstairs for obstruction review.


I have long argued for video refs to have a set time to make a decision -, if they can't within the specificed time then there is no obvious doubt so go with the on field call.


It doesn't help also becuase how many times does the video ref ask for a certain angle and the tv director shows something else then eventually switch to the one claled for, but video refs ar getting silly viewing the same angle over and over again it is hard not to feel that they are desperatley looking for a reason to chalk off a try for some strange reason.

In short yes.


I quite like the way the NRL do it, if the ref is fairly confident they’ll award the try, the VR reviews whilst the conversion is being set up to confirm.  I think, if the VR spots something and needs more time they send a message to the ref.


Agree with the time limit, if they can’t decide within 2 mins then go with the refs call.
