| Perhaps this is a minority than a majority, but it seems that recent events (i.e. the "repeated injustice of refereeing decisions at CC Final", "Sam Tomkins Vs", "Gaz Hock's most recent disciplinary), get more coverage by St Helens fans than any other fans, including those who are directly affected by the decisions.
I mean, I got to work on Monday, a Wire fan & I had an amicable discussion about the game and I, duly, told him I hoped Hull thrash them this weekend, but a Saints fan was chanting "Warri Warri Warri Warri Warrington", and chanting the score...
My response though was a classic uncompromising
"Typical Saints fan, always cheering for someone else".
Is it just me noticing this? I know there is fierce rivalry between the two teams but I don't cheer or chant other teams chants because Saints got beat by them (i dont know enough of the other teams chants to start with).

| Same at Wembley, when 20-30 "lost" Stains fans sat in the middle of of the Wigan end in their Stains shirts cheering on every Leeds score. Thankfully they left 5 minutes before the end (which coincided with the strange smell disappearing).
Whilst they appear to attach themselves to every team that plays against Wigan, I am too bothered watching Wigan to give them any attention.

| There are lots of factors in why people cheer for teams other than their own.
First of all there's the underdog thing. Then there's the rivalry issue.
I would almost never cheer for Saints, as I suspect Saints fans would almost never cheer for Wigan. But there are exceptions. For example, if Saints were playing Warrington I would support Saints simply because Warrington appear to be the bigger threat to us at present. I would support Saints against an Aussie team, because the Aussie still have problems with arrogance and ego which put all of us in the shade.
I suppose another factor is how you've been received by away fans in the last fixture and so on. I've never felt as if I wasn't welcome at Saints, whereas at Warrington they specialise in that kind of thing. I've always enjoyed the atmosphere at both Hull and Hull KR, so I'm usually fine with them, but Leeds have been exceptionally bitter and twisted since they fell from grace, so as things are they will almost never get my vote.
Though Bradford are a club I've never had a particular beef with, I loathed and detested them for a year after the last Grand Final in which we played them, simply because the group of Bradford fans we got stuck on the tram with were pigs of a sort I've never seen before or since in RL. I suspect it's human nature to respond to that kind of thing by taking it out on what they represent.
Anyway, it's all swings and roundabouts, as Nobby would say.

| It's something you will get in any sport. and I can imagine there's Wigan fans who are exactly the same. I'm finding it a bit sad at the moment how a lot of opposing fans seem more interested in Wigan losing than they do in they're own team. but this is to be expected when you're at the top. To be honest it puts a smile on my face if I see that Warrington have lost but I don't obsess over It. As for Saints, they are our biggest local rivals and yet even when they where at the top when they are not playing Wigan I would be happier they won, especially against the likes of Wire and Leeds. This is more down the the good/friendly experience I have had whilst watching Wigan v Saints games, be it at home or away. Something that unfortunately can't be said for the other 2 clubs mentioned. I find It almost strange how Wigan Saints can be the biggest rivalry in rugby league on the field, yet off the field in some aspects It's very very different.

| One reason:
Saints are no longer the best team in Super League. And they can't stand the fact Wigan and Warrington assrape their team on a regular basis.

| Meh. I went to the 2002 GF and supported Bradford. I was gutted when Long popped that DG over.

| Not something I've noticed at all tbh. I was cheering you on against Wire on Sunday and most of the saints fans I know personally were the same.

| I would cheer for any team playing a side above us in the table! and for any English or French side against the Aussies.
Cheered for Widnes, Bradford, Saints and even Leeds in World Club Challenges.
I also know first hand from mates who are Stains fans, that most Stains fans would cheer for us in similar circumstances.
Would not have cheered for a Yorkshire side against a Lancashire side in a cup final though! Keep the trophies West of the Pennines where they belong!!

Funny, I have the same dislikes, and amicabilities to the other clubs as you do.
