| Fair enough, good retention from Saints. I hope Graham stays too, he's just taking up Long's 'pantomime villain' spot in their side.

| I wonder how much his 'interest' in going to the NRL played its part in getting Saints to increase their offer to a level that was acceptable?

Less cap space for Eastmond and Graham.

As I said on a thread on the Saints site, Roby, Eastmond, Graham and Leon Pryce all coming off contract at the same time presents major problems as they will all be looking for big money contracts.
At least one of them will probably have to go. If it was my decision it would be Pryce, as he is probably the highest earner so letting him go would release more money to try to keep the other three.

But releasing Eastmond won't free up a lot of salary cap money.

| Graham will go to Australia. That's a given!
He's appointed an agent over there to sort a club for him so he won't be at Saints 2012. Rumours last week that Pryce might be off to Odsal for 2011.
No one I know believes Pryce will be at Saints 2012 anyway!
With Roby re-signing that only leaves Eastmond to sort out.
Hope he has an injury free season, terrific talent but is going to be wasted at Saints though!

Roby signed his last contract a couple of months after winning Man of Steel in 2007. He would have got his significantly big increase then, so I doubt he will have got another significant increase this time. Having said that, he will be one of the top earners in the game now. He also will now get a testimonial year at Saints.
Likewise Pryce was one of the top players in the game when we signed him, therefore his price tag at the time will have been significant. Next time around he certainly wont be able to command a higher price, at most he will remain at the same level. However, Bradford and many other clubs are likely to offer him significantly more cash, so he will probably leave (if his decision comes down to money, which it probably will being his last big deal).
Graham's decision probably wont come down to money, but he certainly deserves a pay rise on his last contract signed in 2007.
Pryce leaving would free up a hell of a lot of cash for a rise for Eastmond and Graham, and probably bring in a couple of others. If Graham and Pryce both leave, then there will be a huge amount to spend.

I don't think it's impossible for saints to keep them all providing we want to and the players want to stay.
For example Lomax could take gardners spot for 2012 which would free gardners wage for them players. Thats just a example how we could free up money to keep jammer, pryce, eastmond. I think (not 100%) that flannery. wilkin, gardner are off contract and can't see saints retaining any of them.
