| Trains Leave Wigan Every Hour at
18mins past (48 minutes journey time to Manchester Victoria)
30mins past (41 minutes journey time to Manchester Victoria)
46mins past (39 minutes journey time to Manchester Victoria)
51mins past (44 minutes journey time to Manchester Piccadilly)
56mins past (47 minutes journey time to Manchester Victoria - this train only calls at Ince 3 mins later)
The times may vary by the odd minute whilst the day progresses but thats the pattern pretty much.
Return trains coming back are at
21:10 (from Victoria), 21:20 (Piccadilly), 22:07 (Piccadilly), 22:36 (Piccadilly), 22:45 (Victoria), 22:54 (Piccadilly), 23:20 (last train from Victoria)
Once in Manchester you can get the Tram to Old Trafford.
Tram to Old Trafford
Quote
Trams travel every 12 minutes every day of the week. The nearest tram station to Old Trafford (via the Altrincham line and called Old Trafford) is located next to Lancashire County Cricket Club on Warwick Road, which leads straight up to Sir Matt Busby Way and takes about a 10 minutes' walk. A useful tip comes from Chris Kilcourse who adds: 'The Metrolink also has another branch line going to Eccles from Manchester Centre. There are two stops to leave the tram - Pomona and Exchange Quay. These are on the opposite (Salford) side of the ground - probably a quieter line on Matchdays. Pomona is the closest to the ground, only a short walk away and closer than Lancashire CC. Exchange Quay is the one to use for return journeys as the trams get full and may not stop at Pomona going back'. '"

| Get off at Old Trafford. Follow all the other fans down the road, past LCCC cricket ground and down towards The Trafford and Bishop Blaize pubs at the end of Sir Matt Busby Way. Its on straight road and you cant get lost. Therl be many people selling flags, scarves etc all along the road and its definately the best place to go pre-match.
DO NOT get off at Pomona, its crap and although it will be quieter, youre not going to the Grand Final to have a snooze.
10 Minute walk from Old Trafford Station and youre right in the thick of it. See you all in the Trafford pub.

Just spoke to my local station, and they said they only run for the football, and won't be running on Saturday.

| I'm sure they've run trains between Manchester city centre and the Football Ground stop in previous years for Grand Final day. I'd be very surprised if they don't confirm something about them this week.

| usually there is a old trafford special from oxford road to old trafford and the station is right along side the North stand. I've used it before on grand finals and for the football, can get very manic after the game when everyone is leaving at similar times, however if you've won the pub crawl from old trafford to manchester city centre is often more fun!!
If you are going to use this route buy a return ticket as it makes it easier when leaving.

| I have hired a 12 man Hummer direct from the pub on Wigan Lane to OT. I can recommend this mode of transport!

| I spoke to National Rail Enquiries yesterday and they said there will be some news later in the week with regards to the matchday special to the ground.
When it is announced, it will most probably run from Oxford Road as that is what's used for United games.
Parking - I recommend Broadway near MediaCityUK/Lowry but go via Langworthy Road passing The Willows along the way. It costs £5, is manned throughout the game and there'll not be much of a hold up afterwards. A 5 minute walk then takes you to the Lowry Outlet mall where there's Lime bar and Pizza Express for food and drink and another 5-10 minute walk over the bridge will take you to the ground.

| Just a quick note to everyone on the Ashton side of Wigan. The train from Newton-le-Willows is much quicker to Manchester only taking about 25mins.

Lets just hope you do not decide to miss the second half due to an unfortunate result...
