| I know its a very very long way..............but has anyone ever driven to Perpignan?
How long did it take you ? I would be grateful for any information regarding cost of tolls, how much petrol you used etc etc.
Thanks Fatbelly

Never done it myself, but TomTom lists it as 1007 miles and between 15 to 16 hours of driving (plus time for breaks, etc.).
I took that from Warrington and it assumes use of the tunnel.
Obviously, fuel useage depends on the MPG of your car.
If you want to look, go to routes.tomtom.com
Hope that helps.

| we did a road trip in 2008, 13 of us, and it was one of the best times ever. We are also doing the road trip this year which should be good.
I'd reccomend it to anybody, its a right laugh and doesnt take too long if you spit the trip up well.
I think when we went in 08 we travelled down to dover after the hull game I think we where on the 4am ferry from dover to dunkirk. We drove from dunkirk down through france but had a puncture so due to french law had to stop in some random place to get a tyre fitted. Putting us off route but not downhearting us we travelled down to Clermont which is mid france and stayed there on the saturday night. On the sunday we travelled down to Canet and spent a week there. Travelling back we stayed in paris. And travelled back from Paris the following day.
The good thing about doing a road trip is that you can uproute and go where ever you want for the day. We went to Barcelona to tour the nou camp in 08 which was very good and only a 2 hour trip.
Id adivse it to anyone.

| If you were to stop for the night somewhere near Dover such as Ashford, and catch an early Chunnel, you could realistically be in Perpignan for the evening, or certainly only a short drive away the next day.

| drove down for the last 2 games, will be driving down again this time. i will be driving down to canterbury for an overnight stop then the ferry and will stop off at bourges for another overnighter then drive down to perpignan the next day. if you take the motorway via paris it's free after clermont ferand and the scenery is quite good. you can stop off and view the millau viaduct it's some bridge.
it should cost less than 100 euros for the tolls, fuel i dont know, that depends on whether you are using petrol or diesel and if you fill up on the motorway services. depending on speed i reckon it will take two tank fulls. try to fill up when you come off the motorway. also watch out for the speed cameras there's more each year and make sure on your way back that you keep your sped in check on the motorway up to calais as they like to wait for english cars hurrying back to the ferries.

Aren't the toll tickets timed? So they can tell if you've been speeding depending on your times between tolls?

yes tickets have times on, but i think they only check for serious speedster, plus if you stop for a break that will lengthen your travel time ( obvious i know ) the police also like to wait just through the tolls, clocking your speed as you approach the booths as the speed limit drops a number of times before you get to the booth.

Go to www.sanef.com and register for the telepeage transponder. Saves ages in queues at the tolls and es of the French when they think you are in the wrong lane at the tolls! It then bills your credit card in due course. Arrives in the post for you to use.

| we did the rosd trip in 2008, it was a brilliant trip, we are doing it again following the Quins game, portsmouth to st marlo, ther to bordeaux, there to barca for 2 nights, then to cannet for 4 nights, then 2 stop overs on way wom including 2 nights in paris,
if your going to do it make sure you plan plenty stops, the service areas overthere are beltin tbh, make sure you wise up on the road laws in france, even down to having the same tyres on each axel should you need to have a new tyre fitted !.
we had a great time and were looking forward to doing it again.

| Me & 3 other lads rented a motorhome and drove down - I'd reccomend that to anyone, cheaper than flying and you can plan your own route and have more of a laugh - We stopped at a campsite 10 minutes away from the Irish bar, was brilliant.

| Did the trip two years ago week after we played wire in the snow first game of the season. Me and Mrs left JJB at 10.00pm armed with a Tom Tom few changes of clothes and a ferry ticket.
Drove down to Dover in snow caught 4.00 am ferry arrived in Calais 6.30 am ish and then down too Narbone in SW France arriving about 8.00pm where we had rented a cottage. Following Sat went to game, the one where it RAINED!! and Lockers won it for us in last minute sliding over the line in the water.
Then drove home, back in Wigan Sunday morning with many happy memories.
Well worth the trip!!

Try here;
www.viamichelin.co.uk/
According to that you're looking at 1,584km and it should take 15 hours, 19 minutes.
You'll pay 63.64 pounds in toll fees and 118.16 pounds on petrol going.
So I make that 363.60 pounds there and back.
