Hope Maguire is able to give the players who played on Friday a good rest, but get them well prepared for Hudds.
Regarding injuries, key players Coley, Tommey and Glesson are a must IMO!

| I think we need a rest. We looked completely jaded on Friday IMO.
I heard after the Sheffield game the players were put through the wringer which obviously did not help us against Quins so maybe we are trying a different approach?
As I said in another thread we were never in a million years going to keep up the level intensity Maguire expects every single week. Theres always going to be some below par performances.
Its going to be very interesting to see how we perform...we could go to Edinburgh and play at the top of our game and still lose as Huddersfield are a very good side.

| It says in the league express that Gleeson is expected to be fit to face the Giants. If we could add Deacon to Gleeson and Coley being back that would make a big difference imo.

Guys like Coley and Gleeson who both missed Fridays game never should have played against Sheff imo.
Like everyone has said we looked jaded on Friday and that wouldn't have happened if they would have been rested in the cup game.

| Having either Deacon or Tommy back is crucial for me, not only to have a half-back in the team alongisde Sam but to allow Lockers to revert to 13 where he is a lot more effective. If either of those are back I suspect we will play much better.

| For me Gleeson is key.
Look at the problems we had down the right hand side last year before we brought Gleeson in. Funny how they all disapeared when we signed him and the floodgates open whenever he misses a game.
I have to disagree with the comments about O'Loughlin at 6. I think we look good with Locky and Sam in the halves, there is alot of potential there for them two as a half back pairing. I just think playing Locky there allows Sam to play his natural game and starts to control the game. Usually he is fighting to get involved and becomes a victim of trying too hard.
We scored enough points in the first half to justify this. It was just a poor second half showing from the whole team that lost us the game.

Even if Sam is the only 1st team halfback available, Locky has to go back to 13 for me. I've never understood the reasoning behind making a number of positional changes to cover one position (i.e. Locky to 6, Mossop to 13 etc). If Deacon and LuLu are still injured I'd play Howarth at 6.

Very unlikely. In fact I'd go so far as to say we'd have put a better performance in had we rested some players. They were obviously playing nowhere near to potential, a fact bourne out last Friday.
I think the fact that MM has given them 3 days rest supports the view that he handled the Eater period and subsequent cup game poorly in terms of player rotation. They have nothing lke this in Aus and I feel it's been as much a learning period for him as anything else. Should the same situation arise next year I very much doubt he'll go down the same route.
BTW, this isn't hindsight. A few of us made the point prior to the Sheffield game (and even before that in some cases) but were prepared to give MM the benefit of the doubt. I think this pretty much confirms what we thought at that time. As I said, I'm sure it's something he'll have taken on board though.

I agree. After such an intense few weeks the coach should have rested a few players, first blot against MM's copy book in my opinion.
Silly to run with that strength of team and not take the opportunity to rest a few more of the lads. Its a long season and opportunities like that need to be maximised.

| To have Gleeson and Tommy back would be awesome.
Then Lockers and Bailey could move back to their proper positions and we should play much better.
Coley and Goulding would be a bonus

I've seen enough to know it will disrupt the team less than moving Locky from 13. We move him out of the forwards for two games and ship 72 points against the two lowest teams we've played this season.

| Lockers looking way out his deapth that 6 IMO. We need him at 13. I would honestly rather play Gleeson at 6 than Lockers. Lets hope Leuluai or deacon is back though.

| We need to keep O'Loughlin in the loose forward position where he is most effective. We need a specialist scrum half in either Deacon or Leuluai and we need Gleeson in the centres. We have sorely missed Leuluai over the past few weeks. Gleeson back in the centres is key as well, don't forget when we lost Carmont at Bradford we moved Joel Tomkins out there and lost his contribution in the middle and gave him a role he is not specialist at, and then crumbled in the second half.

| Lockers has to play at 13 even if it means playing a total makeshift at 6. He had his poorest game in a very long time against the Quins and just looked to be trying too hard to be a proper 6.
Hopefully one of Deacon or Leuluai will be back and if not then Phelps, Howarth or Gleeson should be given the job.

What about the State of Origin series? Players take part in that on a Wednesday night without missing either of the weekend games for their club

Should Gleeson not make it then Goulding moves to centre for me. Anyone is better than Bailey and Goulding has really tightened up his defence.
