It was mentioned on Sky tonight that the ex Wigan forward [url=http://wigan.rlfans.com/readarticle.php?article_id=895=#FF0000Mick Scott[/url is ill in hospital having suffered an heart attack.

Fans of certain generation will remember him fondly for scoring a crucial try in a narrow Challenge Cup Semi Final victory over York at Elland Road in 1984. It helped send Wigan to Wembley for the first time in 14 years.

He was also part of the side that ended a 9 year trophy drought with the 1983 John Player Trophy Final victory over Leeds, again at Elland Road.

He played the majority of his 17 year career at Halifax and still works for them today as Lottery Manager. [url=http://www.halifaxrlfc.co.uk/article.php?id=1212=#FF0000Halifax's website says[/url he is in a stable condition and let's hope he makes a full recovery.

Really. Two key Semi Final moments but sadly he didn't play in the 1985 final win. Bit of justice for him though he won the cup with Halifax in 1987 against our old enemy 19-18. Also won the league with Halifax a year earlier, he seems to have done well in helping end trophy droughts.

When he gets better any chance of Madge getting him back?

A good player was Mick Scott. He was a workhorse which all good teams have a need of.

As a young lad I'll never forget that great day @ Elland Road in 83 when we won our first trophy for years.
My passion for Wigan RL really started that day and has been with me ever since.
As already mentioned Mick was a tackling machine in that side and a key figure.

He had a couple of pubs in Halifax and we often used to visit them when Wigan were over there. It was also a good meeting up place for a night out when we used to have a get together with friends who were Fev and Wakey supporters. We were in his pub the night Barry McGuigan won his World title fight in 1985.What a great night that was, we'd taken the Challenge Cup over with us.
