| Is there a more underrated player in SL?
He was our best prop for the majority of last season after coming alive vs Salford away and he’s never looked back since imo.
We’ve played three games this season and if Coley is performing at his current level at the half way point then I hope IL will offer him a new deal.
I still think we need another prop to counter the lack of impact we seem to have when Coley and Fielden go off but any new signing should be playing with Coley and not replacing him.
Keep up the good work Andy!

| Agreed. As he took a while to hit his straps as a Wigan player, there seems to be an unwillingness to acknowledge he's the cornerstone of the pack. He's lead the team from the front this season and has put in some massive defence.

| My MOTM yesterday, some crackin big hits in defence. I'm starting to think he might be worth another contract extension but it's early days yet.

| Coley has been immense for a good while now. If he continues he will definatley deserve another contract, Fielden will do to on reduced terms. Bailey is the player who needs to watch himself imo although i thought he performed well last night and looked strong carrying the ball forward but he still gives the odd silly penalty away.

| Andy Coley has always been a decent pro apart from one season in a Salford City Reds shirt Andy was a model pro.
Good Luck for the rest of this season AC..

I agree its early days yet but like I said in my op if he’s still in this vein of form at the half way point of the season then he’s gotta be signed up.
I think Coley has earned enough respect at Wigan to be offered a deal mid way through the season and not have to wait until the final months to see if he’ll get one or not.
Apart from the top props in SL- Graham, Morley, Peacock and Crabtree I wouldn’t swap Coley for anyone else out there.

| Yes Coley has been immense this season and last season but he was pretty decent in his first season too although he seemed to get very little plaudits which i always put down to the fact that we signed him from an unfashionable club.
Lets not forget that Coley has been performing without much help from Fielden since he joined us and its only now that we are seeing a much improved Fielden sharing the work load which is essential when facing a pack of forwards like Waringtons.
Was also great to see Coley getting the players fired up in the changing rooms before the game, adding him to the leadership team was a great move imo.

Yeah I noticed that to, perhaps this leadership team really is what we needed.

| Good move making him captain when playinmg against his home town club.
He has been very good this year.
Thought at one time he was fortunate to get the one year deal but now playing better than at anytime in Wigan colours. Carry on with form like this and we'd be foolish to release him and allow him to go to another SL club.

| I remember reading a few peoples team selections for the Crusaders game and smiling at the fact they'd left him out. That was on the back of a couple of dodgy pre season preformences which I said at the time meant nothing.
Guys like Coley, phelps, Gleeson, Fielden, Joel Tomkins etc didn't do much in pre season and the link between them all is..................they've been right up there in the list of our best players over these first 3 games.
Coley is a top class superleague prop. He makes a few errors but you can't knock his attitude and effort. I thought he outplayed the 2 big men for Wire last night(Morley and Carvell) and thats no easy task.

You've totally lost me there, Stu's was our highest work rate forward last year as well. And that's no slight at Andy Coley, who I really like and think is better than a lot of other teams fans give him credit for.

| Fieldens Wigan preformences have always been decent by anybodys standards but not the best by his own.
He's not been worth the money we paid for him but that doesn't make him a bad player. To say Coley had no help from a guy who had very similar stats to himself is silly.
Fielden and Coley are coming up with the goods at the moment and look well placed for new deals.

Fielden was bobbins last year, crumpled in tackles like he was made of biscuit. This year he looks way better, although still not the player he was when we signed him, never will be.

I said 1-2 week ago that Fielden on a realistic wage is a plus for any side.I'm hoping both coley and Stu get new deals at wigan

Well for a lad who crumpled in tackles like he was made of biscuit, he still made more metres than Coley off 1 less carry, made 2.5 times the tackle busts, and put in more work defensively.
But yeah he was bobbins

I think what he's trying to say is that although Coley has been quality of late he's never going to be in that elite bracket of props like Peacock, Graham, Morley and the ‘old’ Stuart Fielden.
Lets not beat around the bush Coley was brought in to do a job as the number 2 prop behind an all singing all dancing ‘worlds best prop’ in Fielden. It’s a role the likes of Carvel and Leuluai fill at their respective clubs and one which there is no shame in doing as not everyone can get in to that elite bracket.
Carvel and Leuluai, imo, aren’t as good as Andy Coley but they certainly get a lot more respect from other fans and hype in the media as their jobs are made a lot easier as they’ve got the likes of Peacock and Morley in front of them putting in equal or better shifts at the coal face. Coley hasn’t had this and he’s been forced in many instances to try and do the go forward of two people.
Maybe some go over the top with their criticism of Fielden and maybe in some instances he deserves it but all I know is that he’s no longer in that top bracket of props which he used to be in and it makes Coley’s, Fekas and Prescott’s job a lot harder.

How often did he win the collision? They don't show stats for that but if they did his would be very poor. Also he hardly every broke a tackle. I know his stats of SL site say he made 78 tackle busts but god knows how they work them out because he definitely didn't, if you believe those stats then he made loads more tackle busts than Morley, Peacock and Graham. I find it's better to use my eyes than to use stats.

| Fielden was the best prop on the Park last night, absolutely superb. He beat the first man time and time again, landed face down and got the quick play the ball.
I am waiting for Bilkos stats for he game.

| He's been our most consistant prop for the past 12 months, easy. He doesn't do anything spectacular, like Feka with his occasional barnstorming runs, but he's a grafter. He takes the ball in time after time, and works hard in defence. It's similar with Fielden too though, he'd take it in all day and play for 80 mins if we let him. Just because he doesn't stand out as much as he used to, doesn't mean that he isn't playing well.
