The inaugural winner of this prestigious award last night went to

Steve Prescott.

On behalf of Steve, his family and the Foundation we would like to thank you all for supporting Steve throughout his illness..

He is humbled and honoured to be the first winner of this award named after a true legend of the game who fought illness in the same manner.

Without your support Steve would not have the drive or belief that he can help oput others who are less fortunate than himself.

He is still undergoing Chemotherapy, he is still classed as having terminal cancer but he will carry on living life to the full with his family and pushing his body to the absolute limit.

In the next few weeks we will be announcing the plans for Steve and the Foundation for Next Year, i promise they will be Whacky and Entertaining!

Steve's attitude and determination to do what he is doing to help others considering the illness he has is a great credit to the man and his family.

The man is a fantastic ambassador for our sport.

Steve is an amazing human being.

I think back to his last season with Hull when he was halfway through, and for me was going to absolutely run away with Man Of Steel. He was putting in the performances of his life, and then picked up an unfortunate injury. Pretty sure he didn't play again after that.

But since then, everything he's done... well, he makes me feel humble in comparison.

A true gent, a true sportsman. Fully deserved award.

The most humble person in RL. He says hello and responds to every passer by when he is in public at the games or events and he inspires so many people as well as him being a great player who played the game in the right spirit. RL and sport in general needs more Steve Prescotts.
