| For me Mossop gets the nod over Flanagan.
Much as I like Flanagan, he is off down under, whereas Mossop is here to stay and is the future.

Eastmond in the is an interesting one, correct me if I'm wrong but he's played the last few games in that position and to me doesn't look half bad there, however it'll be interesting seeing him come up against Carmont and Richards that'll be a real test for him and hopefully he'll be a weak link for you guy's with those two running at him.

| Flanagan made 51 tackles earlier in season at knowsley rd. He should play. As should Mossop. Joel should miss out.
Funny how those wanting Flanagan dropped have only started since he signed for Wests.

Yeah he played in that position against Leeds, Catalan and Huddersfield, in attack his speed and agility creates many gaps for Meli to run through... Or wouldnt be suprised if Gilmour plays there though for the reasons you stated above but he'd be against Gleeson and Roberts... however Eastmond isnt easily run-over, reminds me very much of Burrow... straight for the legs and in addition Eastmond is very strong... should be interesting to see if he goes with Eastmond attacking wise or Gilmour defence wise

Yeah tough all to make whether to go for a defensive stance or more of an attack orientated one, either way your gonna miss Gilmour's adaptability next year.

| Joel makes too many mistakes yet, for me. He's the new Gaz Hock. Brilliant, but has you looking to the stars and asking "WHYYYYYYY???!!"
Mossop and Flanagan, for mine.

Flanagan is another Locky, Hansen type forward (big defence). Mossop offers something different (good yards). Its non brainer for me whether Flanagan is at Wigan next season or not.

| Take a look at St Helens defence against Huddersfield last week, it was absolutely outstanding.
Take Joel Tomkins out of there and it limits our attacking options in the backrow, especially now we no longer have Gareth Hock. Mark Flanagan, Harrison Hansen and Lee Mossop are all sound defensively, but Tomkins can offer much more when it comes to working & combining with our halfbacks and loose forward to support and hit gaps efftectively.

As far as I can see there has only been 1 poster on this thread with this opinion. You are making the same mistake as Red Hot Jalepeno in ascribing one person's reasoning to all who hold the same opinion. [iIMO[/i Mossop should replace Flanagan because I think he will perform better, simple as that. If you think he should be picked because he made 51 tackles in a game weeks ago, would I be correct in saying "funny how those wanting Flanagan to play have only started since he made 51 tackles?" is a reason held by all Flanagan fans? Plainly ridiculous. Hopefully, you now get the point.

I suppose seeing who plays there will give us some indication of how Saints are going about the game... Whoever comes up against Gleeson will have a job on their hands as he's been looking back to his best recently, running some great lines in attack
... Im enjoying this actually chatting about Rugby and it not turning into a slanging match!

I dont want him dropped, just think that we need to look to the future, and our future is going to hopefully have Lee Mossop in it, thats all.
Or do we want guys like Mossop getting annoyed and slapping in transfer requests ?

| Well if people around these parts are to be believed that won't happen because Noble is going.
So I can only assume the new coach won't play Phil Bailey, or consider Joel/Hansen first choice.
Mossop is good, but so is Flanagan. Joel for me, is error prone, we can't risk it in this game.

Mossop in Flannagan out, feel for the lad as he gives his all but we need all the go forward we can get at their place tomorrow.
The game will come down to the bench for me and Fielden, Feka, Mossop and either hooker looks very big and strong.
Is it just me or does anyone else see Flannagan as tough but a little lightweight?

I agree tbh. I thought Flash started out as a Stand Off but he shows little skill during the game, more just playing like a second rower running the ball in and as he is built more like a SO he makes little yardage. He is a great defender but surely Mossop is the better option off the bench. He is big, tough and aggressive and will make good yards aswell as letting no-one down in defence.

| Flanagan & Mossop for me too, joel is a bit mistake prone at present and too easily invoved when sam gets a crack off someone. Mossy had a good game last week in the final
And I wouldn't let Karl Pryce anywhere near Knowsley Road for a match of this importance, he also played against saints in the reserves grand final and ambled around as per usual whilst the rest of the lads were up for it and on fire - not sure what gets this lad motivated, but if he can't get up for a grand final, reserves or not there's not much hope.
