On a tenuously related note, I hate it when Wigan Athletic are referred to as WIGAN.

They're not Wigan. They're Wigan ATHLETIC. The RL team is Wigan - we're only Wigan Warriors because the RFL decided we had to be.

Nothing to do with the RFL whatsoever.

you have to give latics credit for a great result and performance just as you have to give wigan rugby credit for the game at hull kr

Wigan were one of the last to choose a name because we were reluctant. St Helens were exempt from the rule because they had a strong enough brand as it was in 'Saints'

Now, however, there is no requirement, but believe me, it was the RFL who said we had to choose a name.

EDIT - I realise how my last post may have been contrued. What I meant was that the RFL said we had to choose a name, not what that name had to be.

The point is the football press linking " Warriors " with the football team.

Latics are unimportant on this forum. We're more interested in the SL play-offs, which are far and away the more likely source of sporting glory for this town at the present time.

Doing well? It took Chelsea having 1 player sent off and another being unable to be substituted for the Latics to win.

Some people are obsessed, what was the point of this topic???



Both teams won this weekend in big games, so both sets of fans can be happy and why either set of fans would care about the other is beyond me.
