I think he'll go straight back in to the first team off the bench tbh. Finch wasnt used in the 20s and Pat only had 1 game with them and they were both coming off the back of long term injuries. If hes looking fit enough in training I would think using him in 15-20 minute spells of the bench in SL games would be the best way to get him up to speed.

They should let him back for the Saints game just so he can say bye to James Graham. It could be the last time they ever meet

And who would you drop from the squad, Mossop, Farrell, Lima, Presscott? and Harrison is due back in a few weeks He has to earn his place and if MM sticks to his guns and treats him like he has done every other player so far in his rain we know that will be the case.

Agreed, depends on whether Hansen is still out or not. I'd imagine if Hansen was still out he'd get the bench spot over Tuson.

What people seem to be forgetting is that hes been allowed to start training two months early to get him back upto speed with full contact and tactics etc for the sole reason of being able to return straight from his ban. I agree the bench should be the starting point but he definitely should be given the chance to start playing as soon as his ban ends if hes proven himself good enough in training. Remember MM doesnt pick the "best" players based solely on match form its also how they conduct themselves and how they play in training.

Anyway Saints fan in peace here I would just like to say good luck to the kid.

He has the potential to be a world beater on his day and he has paid for his errors,let the kid get on with playing rugby.

i dont think they should let him back early! think he should serve his ban same as anyone else would have to! hes no different to anyone else & tbh i dont think wigan especially need him or would miss him if we didnt have him against saints! we're strong enough without him.

He's 17 and a half stone of muscle. Thats one frightening thought

No he doesn't. They're in SL next year, no matter what happens. This year is the Widnes players playing for places in next year's squad...and judging on performances so far, not many will.

Which isn't particularly suprising when you consider the difference in the cap.

A lot of people at moaning that Widnes are going to be in SL even with a bad team, but the reality of the situation is that whichever team came up less than half the team would still be playing.

They could meet in the Challenge Cup too. A wembley win against Saints would be superb.

We'll have to see how Madge wants to let him back in the team: whether he gets a couple of runs out with the kids, or goes straight back in to SL. He hasn't had a full contact match in over two years, so although he has bulked up and kept fit, there is no way he will be ready for the pace and 'hardness' of that level.
As to the Widnes thing, I know they are back in SL next year, but when those guys are playing for an SL contract, you'd expect them to be top of the league, not going for mid-table mediocrity! It also makes our sport look a little amateurish, when the team that finishes top of NL1 gets fook all, and the team that finished outside the top four got automatic promotion.
