| Quote ="100% Warrior"Quite a few people have mentioned this. He does (or did) seem like JP in his youth, a strong agile second rower. Personally I do think he will make the move to prop forward in years to come.
Just a general question - when Hock does come back - if he does - would you be happy for him to play in the Reserves for the rest of that season? Surely after 2 years out he can't be put straight back into the first team?'"
I don't think fitness will be a huge concern with Hock. He's never been a workhorse type and I think he'll get back in the swing of things pretty quickly.
It's going to be interesting to see how he fits in if/when he does come back. I get the feeling the new regime won't stand for players mucking around away from the field and he'll have to be on best behaviour if he does want to come back.
As for his position it all depends on what we need. If the club is still in desperate need of a prop i'd be happy enough with him going in there. He'd cause all sorts of problems running around the middle.

NO, he is gash, how many times was he involved in crossing last season, it is the usual case of just above average player coming through the academy being bullled up by many fans to the point where he gets a rep without having the skill to pull it off, a certain CPW from Mikes site is guilty of such things

| I like Joel Tomkins but he isn't anywhere near as good as he could be imo. He doesn't run his weight for starters and looks a little too timid for my liking. He's a monster of a lad and if he had his brothers temprament he'd be a sensational second rower/loose forward.
I still believe he offers the side quite abit though although he didn't have the best of times last season. He seemed short of confidence early doors and never recovered. He had a fantastic second half of 2008 and hopefully can get that form back. He was a huge threat in that spell and his link up with Barrett was superb. Maybe him and his brother can strike up something similar in time.

| I think maybe some are being a little harsh on JT.
Joel was outstanding at loose at the back end of 2008, and as already pointed out, he had a great understanding with Trent Barrett.
However, he has lost abit of form but hopefully he can start running those lines and making decent yards without the silly penalties he has prone to give away.

| Barrett made him look good back end of 08.
After his finish to 08 I was really looking forward to see how he progressed in 09 but he just got worse. Did have the odd good game (leeds at home) but overall he was a penalty machine (always does dumb stuff like crossing), fair too many knock ons and was lazy in defence alot of the time.
Thank god for him he came through the acadamy or else most fans would be on his back wanting him gone.

'10 back row
Hansen
Bailey
Lockers
Mossop (for impact)
Obviously depending on pre season performances but going off last seasons form thats what I'd have

| I wouldn't mind seeing Joel get a few games at centre. He's a big lad but is pretty rapid and he'd cause all sorts of problems out there.
I know Cameron Smith said McGuire was responsible for changing a couple of players positions like Cooper Cronk from a 9 to a 7 and he may look at a couple of options here.

Yes u are.....
What has mossop done in his 6/7 games to suggest he's a better player than Joel?
Has he been Wigans top try scorer?
Has he come runner up in the young player of the year award?
Has mossop got a try for the first team that made u think this guy is special?
Joel HAS done all the above----Mossop hasn't
Mossop is a talent but so far he's not done as well at first grade level as Joel

| I think Joel has a lot to prove this year his career could kick on or it could go the way of Danny Sculthorpe, he needs to be a lot smarter.

We need a big improvement from him next year, because he has shown potential, we need him to play well to soften the blow of losing Hock.

| To write off Tomkins would be silly imo. He's shown in flashes he's got alot of talent but he needs to cut out some silly errors from his game. He just seems to have alot of brain farts like the 2 in the play offs against Cas and then Saints where he tried to take the last defender on the outside with about 3 inches worth of pitch to play in.
On the positive side of you saying Mossop was better then Tomkins late on in the year i'd like to think thats because he did so well. He is a huge lad and just gets through big metres and plenty of tackling. The league game away at Knowsley Rd was his best preformence imo and really got everyones mouth watering as to how good he could be.

| Joel is a good player. He can be brilliant but can also be quite daft.
If he matures and ups his game awareness he could be far better than he is now. He has size on his side.
There is a lot of competition for places in the back row and Joel should be right there.
If he attains consistancy both within a game as well as game to game then he could be one of the best in the League.

Old news pal he is currently over here playing for Leicester Tigers Union on a short term deal, apparently signed for West Tigers for 2010.

| Old news I know but...
Reports that Mr Colcquit(?) has come out saying that James Graham will not be leaving Saints as he is contracted to the club...blah, blah, blah!
Does make you wonder if the Chief Exec doth protest too much?!
Wouldn't be suprised if he moved on, would be even less suprised if IL didn't splash the cash should he become available
